please understand. artists don't get nearly as much feedback (praise, comments or otherwise) as you think they do. much less than years and years ago. we don't know how much you like it. we don't know how it affected you. unless you say something, or recommend it, comment, reblog. anything.

go tell your favorite artists you like their work. you may think they hear it enough or your praise would be identical to someone else's so you say nothing, but i promise you they would love to hear it. and sometimes they need to hear it.

So many bandwagons are done in the spirit of having fun, not out of a desire to steal credit. The Internet I grew up with - the "hayday of DeviantArt", the days when Tumblr was still fun and spontaneous, the "good old days" - were built off trends like these. This is NOTHING like using AI??

i have mixed feelings on this. i think properly crediting artists that are the bases for a trend is good, important even, and so is asking for permission. however, i do wish "create and post something that is uniquely yours" was the kind of platitude i'd stop seeing in these posts.
