That’s one of the reasons I love @smitegame.bsky.social . Most of the gods/goddesses I was already aware of, but just by a bit of reading and seeing the kits (which pull from their mythology) I’ve learned so much outside of the classic Norse/Greek/Egyptian pantheons.

Some academics turn up their noses at movie adaptations or popular history books, but I call them "gateway drugs" into deeper scholarship. How many of us fell in love with history because a movie (or book) sparked our curiosity first? For me, it was Amadeus - it sent me down an 18thC rabbit hole.
