Facebook exists because Zuckerberg was able to leverage technology and position and get there first then actively kill off every competitior that they could. Facebook doesn't actually DO anything new or provide any unique service. The tech isn't really theirs. It's easily replaced. Shut it down.

I’m sorry, but there’s just no affirmative case for this company to exist. I get it, groups have used and still use Facebook to organize, etc, but the inherent terribleness of this organization necessitates closing it down completely.

I honestly think America’s obsession with team alignment is part of why third parties suffer so much. “Go pats!” and “vote blue no matter who” have the same fucking energy and this is legitimately going to be a problem for continuing a free society.

This one not only nearly perfectly evenly split the vote the range was huge. For me, a rifle you can hack is a bad idea militarily and $27k is insane for a range toy. I do kind of wish it had come in the era of AI entirely so the joke “Jarvis, give that rifle gender dysphoria” would come to life.

Hi there, and welcome to #FridayFucksorSucks, a weekly game with simple rules: guns fuck, or they suck. This week, the Tracking Point XS1. A bolt action "precision guided" rifle chambered in .338 Lapua and powered by Linux. Automatically accurate out to 1200 meters, cost $27000 when new.

The gun from many angles looks like a semi-standard bolt action rifle. The optic is the real magic here, though, and you can see from any front angle that the optic has a strange suite of sensors where you'd expect normal optical glass to go.

Hi there, and welcome to #FridayFucksorSucks, a weekly game with simple rules: guns fuck, or they suck. This week, the Tracking Point XS1. A bolt action "precision guided" rifle chambered in .338 Lapua and powered by Linux. Automatically accurate out to 1200 meters, cost $27000 when new.

The gun from many angles looks like a semi-standard bolt action rifle. The optic is the real magic here, though, and you can see from any front angle that the optic has a strange suite of sensors where you'd expect normal optical glass to go.From the user's perspective there is a single view. However, the real magic is with the tablet that the gun shipped with. The "secret sauce" is you don't pull the trigger, you use a networked optic and program in what you're seeing, at which point you paint the target, aim the rifle, and when the rifle calculates a perfect hit IT pulls the trigger.TECHNICALLY the gun can be used as a standard rifle as well, you can see from the left side that there is a traditional trigger as well as a systemic attachment to the internal trigger, but when you use it that way you're spending 27000 on a .338 bolt action rifle which otherwise would be worth maybe 2000.The real "secret sauce" is it has a 3D model of the entire planet loaded onto this linux tablet that would hard code in the weather, distance, and the physical location of the target and automatically places the rifle appropriately based on telemetry. Once you created the scene the gun would attempt to paint the models onto what it was seeing allowing for some level of motion tracking, although it worked far better on static targets.

If I were conspiracy brained, I would say that the framing of Fauci in our current political landscape has been done intentionally by both sides to make his participation in the medical genocide of me and mine for his own financial gain seem like a neutral, liberally acceptable stance.

"You hate Fauci because you have child-like reactions to required basic decency and covid shots. I hate fauci for the crimes he committed against the gay community during the HIV crisis. I actually think Daniel has a point here. Not “oh god won’t someone think of the poor poor cis people.” But the goal of this bullshit is not protection, it’s not even targeting trans folks. The BIG goal is to bring back attacking women who aren’t “feminine enough.” It’s about societal control.
