If you believe this, and I hope you do, there is nothing stopping you from continuing to protect your vulnerable neighbors by wearing masks in crowded and indoor spaces, especially necessary spaces like healthcare facilities, grocery stores, and public transportation. Absolutely nothing.

Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.

“We are exploited as commodities and as forced labor. But commodities do not strike. We do. From May Day to Juneteenth, we reclaim our power. We refuse to slave." The 2027 prison strikers’ demands: 1. END LEGALIZED SLAVERY 2. RESTORE VOTING RIGHTS 3. FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS IN U.S. PRISONS

As of this week, hundreds of thousands of Haitians lost their legal status. Most have lost work permits as well. That's left many people unable to support themselves. Here is a verified link to a fundraiser supporting Haitians in Springfield. Please drop links to other fundraisers in the replies.

The average person in the United States commits three felonies per day. I'm not joking. The only difference between you and an incarcerated person is that they got caught, probably because they live in an overpoliced community as a result of being poorer than you.

I am 53 and have been essentially forced into retirement. I thought it was just me, until I found an entire community of women in the same situation on Instagram. So many of us have just been told that we simply have nothing to contribute to society anymore.

I keep thinking about how often the mass layoffs in media, government and big companies, especially women and people of color, will lead to poorer outcomes for years because the people who would point out potential problems or blind spots were deemed non-essential, a "bad fit", and/or too expensive.

In a hilarious follow up on this topic, my job alerts have gone from “Julie! The Guardian is hiring!” to “Julie! Door Dash is hiring!” And one of my closest formerly corporate friends just got certified in cosmetic waxing. In case you were wondering how it’s going.
