Waking up to good news is a strange and wonderful thing. More of this please.

This is especially meaningful to me because of how I left back in 2020. I had no hope that things could get better. Thank you so much for proving me wrong. Congratulations. Blizzard folks truly are some of the best in the business and now they have the breathing room to ply their craft.
we did it. i am so fucking proud of my colleagues and comrades for this historic victory. so much love to the bargaining committee and our mobilizers who made this happen. i am *proud* to be a rank-and-file member. aftermath.site/blizzard-uni...

I should make a new pinned post. Oh and update my LinkedIn. I guess a part of me has been waiting for the other shoe to drop so I didn't want to scream from the rooftops that I got a cool job. But I did. I really did.
Dylan is an excellent lead and designer and you'd be so lucky to get to work with him! Big opportunity for a junior designer. :)
My team is hiring an Associate Encounter Designer! We'd love a WoW PvE subject matter expert who can switch between player and designer brain. Lua scripting and some design work as an amateur is a plus. Our work gets a big spotlight and the people you'd be joining are wonderful humans and devs.
Didn't like an indie game I picked up. It was 8 dollars. I am not going to refund it and I'm not going to leave a negative review. They worked hard to make the thing and I bought it and don't regret giving it a shot. Maybe the next thing they make will be more to my tastes. :)
4 weeks on the job and I've never been this comfortable on a team in my life. Really excited for everyone to see what we're cooking some day. <3
It's much cooler today. I put away my dishes and loaded my dishwasher. My sink is empty. I made an amazing sandwich for lunch and cleaned up after myself so my kitchen is still clean. I'm mildly annoyed that this is such a mood boost lol
My remaining cat Winston has become such a vocal little beast. I'm curious... did I not notice it before or did Boswell stifle his screams? I get yelled at when I disturb him in bed. I get yelled at if I look at him across the room. I get yelled at if I pass near the food bowl. He screm.
the year is 2027. gas costs $83 and lettuce is at war with us. however every location on every map now says AMERICA
I've had a wonderful day filled with positive conversations and affirmations and I like to think Dolly would want that for me.
Week 2 is going well. I really feel like I'm making a difference already. This team is so collaborative and open, right up there with the best teams I've ever worked with. Still very new, but I am swimming in a sea of green flags.
"Remote (as long as you're in the same city as the studio)" is not "remote."
Mission and quest design is this weird cubby of design where you kinda need the whole game as a palette so you can paint something new with it. Developing a pipeline to get things made while the whole game doesn't exist yet is uh. Hard. This is in reference to every project I've worked on.
What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?
Nearly a week into my job and I think I'm falling in love with my craft again. What a dream to work on a game like GW3.
Happy to announce that today is my first day as a Senior Story Designer at ArenaNet, working on Guild Wars 3! I feel like I landed exactly where I was meant to, and I'm so eager to flex my design muscles again!
I am very much in danger of adopting another cat.
Packing up to leave my parents' place and move back out on my own after 8 months of unemployment. I'm waiting till my start date to make that announcement but finally, FINALLY, I have good news to share.
Tw: pet death Scheduling in home euthanasia like a dentist appointment. The lady on the other end was very sympathetic but it still felt profoundly strange. But it's happening on friday and having a date and time to say goodbye is priceless, in the end.
Tw: pet death. It is a remarkably compassionate thing, to plan a quiet and calm end for someone I love so dearly. I'm heartbroken but my boy deserves his dignity, in the end. He'll go in our home. In my arms.
it is a beautiful day in the shareholder value factory and you are a terrible goose
I don't want to bring people down by making one of Those Posts, but finally got a diagnosis for Boswell. It's not good. Starts with c. Estimated less than a year left.
Honestly, a 6 inch cube that plays a huge chunk of steam games is fucking incredible. That price is Ouch but the tech behind it is cool as hell.
Love it when interviewers give me the information and opportunity to help them make their decision. Telling me why they're asking the question so I can speak to the core problem is so smart. I wish more folks involved with hiring would do that.
Waiting for Emails is the same vibe as Waiting for Godot
Lowered Boswell's dosage of the steroid per the vet's instructions and he's back to huddling in a little ball between meals... it looks like pain to me but I genuinely cannot be sure. I wish cats were more vocal when they need help. He hasn't put on a TON of weight but things are better-ish.
