in our morally anxious age, the reaction to boycotts and calls for disengagement is often "but if I do X, does that make me bad?" I humbly suggest instead of searching for perfect absolution that you feel good about collectively participating in a just cause.

The Dinosaurs was disappointing. I didn't learn much, and it took the anthropomorphizing out of fun territory and into "this is just not how ecosystems work." I've got to rewatch Prehistoric Planet.

it's important to work on multiple paintings at the same time so that when the spirits feed too greedily, you can transfer them to another surface and let the withered painting rest.

back in 2011, I made these body-sized graphite drawings with such heavy density, erasing felt like carving. revisiting those ideas now feels like having a very long, slow conversation with myself.
