Drawing created by Danielle Koren, c.1979, in the art therapy studio at Netherne hospital where she was compelled to live. This drawing on scrap paper is very small, found among Edward Adamson’s files of personal correspondence which contain many cards & letters from individuals sent after release

A cross hatched pen and ink drawing in black and white of two beautiful thin white youths dressed in Tudor clothing, doublet and hose with ruffs. Their dress is masculine but their gender is not obvious, they are reminiscent of Orlando, the one on the right is wearing lighter clothes and has fair hair and stands, arms folded, feet crossed with a ballet dancer’s grace and poise in the foreground, the one on the left has darker hair and clothes and stands hands on hips, left foot pointing out, as if preparing to curtsy. Their shadows are long across the chequered floor and the background is black

A DREAM IN BLUE I started this piece with a promotional still of the actress Margaret Sullavan. Here she is recast as a Lynchian torch singer, a woman of mystery that may or may not have the answer to your quest. Or just fade back into a dream. Oil on canvas 71.5x51cm #painting price on request

Woodcuts of the Madonna created c.midC20th at Netherne hospital by George Buday who was compelled to live there. Buday was a professional artist, writer & historian. Art therapist Edward Adamson set him up a studio in an derelict summerhouse on the hospital grounds with access to his carving tools

In this apparently new series we're calling 'Paintings I Like', here's two depictions of ice skaters by Marianne von Werefkin, known mostly for her work as part of the German Expressionist 'Blue Rider' group. Love the ghostliness of them, always puts me in mind of Herk Harvey's Carnival of Souls...

Ice Skaters (The Skaters or I Pattinatori) is a 1911 Expressionist tempera-on-cardboard painting by Russian-born Swiss artist Marianne von Werefkin. The artwork captures dynamic figures in motion, vibrant colors, and a moody winter night scene.

Floyd were good up until and including the ridiculous ( but great) Ummugumma. Wish You Were Here is fab, but I regard it as the third Syd solo album. Syd was such a magician that he didn't even need to appear on it. His spirit just consumes it. That's genius. #lukehaineshasopinions.

Last night I dreamed a brilliant song. Woke up, sang it into my phone. Listened back - it was even better than I’d realised! My voice sounded exactly like Scott Walker! Then I woke up - for real this time. The song was a slight re-write of one I previously dreamed in 1999.

Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde I love the photos on the back, but they’re too small on the CD so I couldn't resist getting the LP on Friday. The CD has remixes so I'm hearing the correct version for the 1st time. This lineup is fantastic. Was Gene Parsons destined to be a Byrd just because of his name?

I’m really enjoying this new album from Kevin Armstrong (excellent guitarist/songwriter who worked with Bowie, Iggy etc.) The music is as great as you’d hope. It’s good to be reminded that KA is also a really strong, emotive singer too. Recommended!
