Lucked into perfect Halloween weather this year. It's cold and foggy and the crows are cawing. Leaves are half on, half off the trees. Everything's gray and gloomy, so pretty much perfect. If that squirrel hadn't EATEN A HOLE in my pumpkin before I could even carve it, I'd have zero complaints.

I've accepted that this plan I had is not going to work. Tried 3 different approaches and it just never felt right. Great idea, wrong time/place. You've gotta trust your instincts in writing. If something doesn't feel right, it *isn't* right. Don't ignore that nagging feeling! #amwriting

Also, if you see this and think "but Rachel, I need to use AI for my story b/c my prose/English/plot/story/character skills aren't good enough yet!" No, you don't. You get better at those skills by writing! Readers hate AI writing anyway, so there's literally no upside here. DO NOT ENGAGE.

Just found out that some website called "WriteAIBook" is quoting my 2k to 10k method like they interviewed me. I HAVE NEVER TALKED TO THESE PEOPLE. I obviously do NOT want you to use AI to write a book. That is a waste of your creativity and a crime against books. Don't believe scammy AI websites!

I am obviously upset about this, but I mostly feel relief. I KNEW it wasn't good, and now I get to fix it! Rewriting is like shaking out a leg that's fallen dead asleep. It hurts at first, but you just know it's going to feel so much better later.

Casually dumping 30k words to completely restart the book from scratch, as one does. Sometimes you have to write it wrong to learn how to write it right. #writing

On a similar note, you would not believe how many people told me I couldn't be a writer when I was younger because I couldn't spell. As if the ability to spell has ANYTHING to do with writing novels. I have no idea of the logic here. Why would anyone say this to a kid who wants to write?

Also "soldier." I always always ALWAYS type it as "solider," which *sucks* because "solider" is a legit word, meaning the error doesn't show up on spellcheck. This is why I have copyeditors and proofreaders. I cannot be trusted with words.
