And, for the coup de grace, two bills protecting fire survivors from predatory insurance companies, which he vetoed, deliberately, to punish fire survivors for rejecting his "reform" bill that was actually a huge payout to SCE for starting fires. calmatters.org/economy/2026...

Newsom vetoes insurance-claim bills: Is it ‘petty’ politics?

California governor rejects legislation sponsored by LA fire victims, who had spoken out against his wildfire-liability effort.

Gavin Newsom has been shitty for ages. He's been the 'lesser evil' for years and years, always firmly on a trajectory toward 'greater evil'. Lots and lots and lots of us have been saying this forever. We deserve better than self-interested turncoats who stand for nothing but themselves.

One of the parts of my job I strangely enjoy is re-cutting old trailers for movies pre-HD era. (When these older titles get licensed to a streamer, they often require a trailer for their interface.) I think I could cut a tone-perfect 90’s action or comedy trailer in my sleep now.

One of the cool things about my job is getting to watch things early. One of the bad things about my job is if I work on the campaign, I never want to watch it in my spare time. The Lowdown is the exception. I will watch Ethan Hawke 10 hours a day then gleefully go home and do it some more.

You guys, we are two weeks away from the return of The Lowdown, just an incredible, delightful television program. I wrote earlier this year about why you should sample it if you haven't already:

Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.
