Lovely afternoon volunteering with @ipsosinscotland.bsky.social and @wolct.bsky.social yesterday. New appreciation for all the effort that goes in to maintaining our lovely green/blue corridor through Edinburgh.

The research shows that the Edinburgh office of ipsosintheuk.bsky.social made a huge difference on the Bells section this afternoon. They raked off our wildflower meadow, weeded the walkway, cut back the nettles and helped to willow spile areas suffering bank erosion. Thanks team @

Great summary from Emily Gray in this of what we know (drawing on recent @ipsosinscotland.bsky.social polling) about how Andy Burnham might fare in Scotland and what he might need to do to win over people in the ‘north’ beyond his current kingdom.

The Herald@heraldscotland.bsky.social · 4mo ago

While Burnham has a positive approval rating across the country as whole, he still has a negative rating in Scotland www.heraldscotland.com/news...

Burnham commands a significant support base in the North West. He has a net favourability rating of +23 among people in the North West – which is significantly better than the Labour Party’s -30, and Starmer’s -37.

Most people in Scotland think Keir Starmer should go before the next GE, but views on his rivals for UK Labour leadership are not particularly favourable either. See below for more on this, as well as views on whether Anas Sarwar should lead Scottish Labour into the next Holyrood election.

What do people in Scotland make of the politicians mentioned as future Labour leadership hopefuls? New @ipsosinscotland.bsky.social polling suggests they have yet to impress the Scottish public. www.ipsos.com/en-uk/labour...

New @ipsosinscotland.bsky.social polling out today, finds many Scots unenthused by the election results, with 'disappointed' and 'frustrated' the most common words to describe how they feel about it. www.ipsos.com/en-uk/ipsos-...

Chart showing which words best describe how people feel about the election result - top 5 are 'disappointed', 'frustrated', 'hopeful', 'indifferent' and 'sad'.

The SNP appear most in tune with electorate - 32% of Scots consider their plans for Scotland to be ‘about right’. Views on Scottish Labour’s plans are more evenly split, whereas Reform UK’s plans are most likely to be considered too radical.

The SNP are the only party whose campaign receives an overall ‘net’ positive rating. Reform UK & the Scottish Conservatives seen as having had the worst campaigns so far. But, many of the public are uncertain/indifferent about how well the parties’ campaigns are going.
