Vested interests like to make climate change complicated. Complicated things take time, in that time they can continue making money. Climate change is not complicated. To stop it we need to get to net-zero CO2 emissions. To do that we just need to stop burning fossil fuels.

Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
The only policy I will ever support is moving to net-zero CO2 emissions as fast as possible. And that means keeping all the oil and gas we possibly can IN THE GROUND.

If you give money to poor people they will spend it, putting money into the economy. If you give it to rich people they will "invest" it, taking money out of the economy. These policies make everyone who works for a living worse off.

The Labour left used to want to empower workers, while the Labour right sought only to "protect" them, Lord Grantham style. Now "protection" is the best on offer from one of the most left leaning of Labour MPs. No thanks, I'll be voting Green.

We can build an economy that supports entrepreneurs, protects workers and creates prosperity that's shared more fairly. That's the future Labour should be delivering.

I see Ann Widdecombe has died. When she was Home Secretary I showed her round Drake Hall womens’s prison. There was a pregnant woman on a bed in the early stages of Labour and she asked the prison officers why she wasn’t handcuffed to the bed. That’s the kind of woman she was.
Personally I feel really sorry for the US football team. They had an impressive run through to the round of 16 and deserved a dignified knockout at the hands of one of the top sides. That was turned into a humiliation by their president cheating on their behalf.
It always amuses me when they say crypto "businessman". So you happen to be near the top of a pyramid scheme, a scheme perfectly set up to help international criminals launder their money, and as a result you make a killing... And that constitutes a "businessman" these days?

I find the propensity for some MMT advocates to jump down the throats of progressive voices the second they use some layman's terminology to advance their ideas so bloody tedious. Yes, I know you're technically correct, but I don't care enough for you to shut down progressive narratives!
From a climate change perspective there is only one policy that will work: *Gross* zero from fossil fuels. Everything else is just distraction.
@mayor.nyc.gov started making meaningful changes from day one. If Andy Burnham doesn't think he can do anything noteworthy for 10 years then he should move aside and make space for someone with a stronger vision for change. Someone like @zackpolanski.bsky.social.

Important ideas from @rachelmillward.bsky.social. Under the current system land owners and developers extract huge profits. In order to achieve these profits "affordable" has to mean "poor quality". By removing the profit motive, the public sector we can build quality, genuinely affordable homes.

Seeing what the DSA has achieved in New York reinforces my view that UK Trade Unions need to get their shit together: Stop deluding yourselves that a Labour Party stacked full of lobbyists is ever going to represent working people and start organising with real socialists and in your communities.
It's so refreshing to see a politician opening up the discussion with positive policy ideas rather than hiding behind the false narrative that we "can't afford" good things.

In my view there is only one valid definition for whether a government is left or right wing: If inequality between the working class and the capital class increases under their watch they are a right wing government. If it decreases they are a left wing government.
I had to make a double take here, I initially assumed this was talking about Keir Starmer.
