Day 4 of #ChemAdvent24! 💋 Mistletoe is a parasite, attached to the host tree through a ‘haustorium’. It’s toxic but not usually deadly, containing phoratoxin and tyramine which cause blurry vision, gastric upset & possibly cardiac distress. Traditionally, it promotes fertility, hence the kissing!
