Getting real sick of slop midwives pleading for a 'respectful discussion' of AI as relates to the arts. Your use of AI to 'make art' is not respectful. It benefits from stolen art, destroys the planet, and does not make you an artist any more than someone driving 26.2 miles is a marathoner.

It is wild that we have more ways than ever to communicate with each other but that it’s at the same time that the media literacy crisis is maybe at its worst.
We still have plenty of summer left, but submit-stuff-for-Halloween season is upon us! Let me know if you see a call for scary stories between now and October and I’ll keep this thread updated.

Ok, a few more thoughts on some of my favorite stories. The ones that stuck with me most thought about what the plague would have looked like in different places: on a secluded island (@bevvincent.bsky.social), in space (@timlebbon.bsky.social), outside the U.S. (@usmantm.bsky.social).

Overall, I really enjoyed The End of the World As We Know It, especially the stories that expanded the world of The Stand, geographically or in time. And it definitely got me in the right mindset for a long overdue re-read of one of my favorites.
Also, this anthology was such a great reminder that voice and perspective are everything in writing. So many authors, so many stories, all starting from the same foundation.
