My understanding (and I’m not a SFWA member, just on the sidelines here) is that the contracts committee and MRM exchanged some emails, and MRM never agreed to a standard contract for everyone with no moral rights waivers. They got notes all right. And ignored them.

The smallest hill I will die on is that Taylor Swift’s song, “Down Bad” is a speculative poem and if it had been presented that way, snobs would like her more. I would also consider “Marjorie” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me”

One of the silliest arguments I’ve seen about tagging authors in negative reviews is that authors need to learn to take constructive criticism. Sure. They do. But why are you qualified to give them feedback? Do you think a trad pubbed author hasn’t incorporated the feedback from professionals?
