twenty hours into ff16 and so far i would say my favorite accomplishments have been finishing rhythm heaven and denshattack
the europeans keep making jp fetishistic 32-bit homages that unfortunately absolutely rule, shout out to promise mascot agency and denshattack
taking this opportunity to remind the world that the creator of Boku no Natsuyasumi made a modern-gen summer vacation game called Natsu-Mon that you can buy on PC & Switch rn (idk if or to what extent they turned things around but the creator's said that the PC version was a massive bomb...)

Watched Totoro last night, I found the original Fox dub, the superior one imho. The ultimate summer movie. It makes me wish that all those chill life sim games where you basically enjoy summer vacation in rural Japan would be ported over to English. That needs to be the next indie gaming trend
next up is continued ff16 drudgery, 10 hours in and i really need that game to go back to being about cool summons looking cool
nothing as transcendent as anything in previous games of the series, but the competition for that is tough so that still makes this an end of year contender.
i am in a long stretch of ff16 that doesn't involve any summons and i have realized that when it comes to this game i am basically only in it for the parts with the summons
picked up a physical bundle of joy concentrate while we still can
Beep21 has just published an interview with Yoji Ishii, Hiro and Masaki Kondoh to mark the 40th anniversary of Fantasy Zone. In it, we learn that it was the late Yoko Kobayashi / 小林陽子, character designer for Alex Kidd and Teddy Boy, who designed Opa Opa and most of the other characters in the game.
it only took two months, but i have achieved the super nintendo maximum
who can say why three years after release and eight months after buying is the right moment to open and play this game but nevertheless, this is happening
After many years of development, the Kowloon's Gate English Patch is now available.

Kind of at the end of my financial rope due to a family emergency that I can’t really elaborate on, would seriously appreciate if anyone has a few bucks to kick to their friendly neighborhood retro game writer guy ko-fi.com/shaunmusgrave

a gift to myself after all these years, starting this for the first time in my life. as a former series superfan who bought every game between 1999 and 2005, this was the one i held up as the only possible rival for 64. let's find out how it stacks up!! (first impression... absolutely gorgeous)
well they're smaller than i thought they would be (or maybe i just don't know my hanafuda) but i suppose these gorgeous little items were worth the endless cost and wait
