Great thread including why he was used for a while! I strongly agree that Toadsworth barley has any impact on the Mario franchise plot he appears in. M&L seemed like the only games he had the best roles in and that suited his role. He isn't a developed character sadly than what nobody wants to hear

I feel like while Toadsworth was used a fair bit during the GameCube era because of the spin-offs taking elements from Sunshine, I feel like his character was never that well developed(?). Like, I can think of a game like a few of the Mario & Luigi games where he played a decently big part. (1/4)

However, in games like Mario Sunshine, TTYD, New SMB, etc, I feel like Toadsworth character has little to no impact in the games' story or gameplay if that makes sense. (2/4)

There are Mario characters like Boom Boom and Toadette who would make long absences before coming back into the series once again. I feel like with those characters I mentioned, they either had great gameplay or story potential for them, which is why Nintendo brought them back. (3/4)

Toadsworth meanwhile, I just felt wasn't ever given that much development, which is why Nintendo has ignored him for a while now with the exceptions to the TTYD remake and the ports of Sunshine. I suspect that it's not Nintendo "hating," him as much as it's just how to make him unique. (4/4)
