I’ll take this further for the sake of hater week: the script is often the least important part of a movie, and if you watch a movie for the script then you’re not actually watching a movie, you are having a book read to you.

It’s honestly kind of funny that Emily Wilson’s review of Nolan’s Odyssey ends up doing the same thing right wing reactionaries do, which is castigate it for not being accurate to the text
The casting is diverse because it's anti-xenophobic. Characters say repeatedly there's some scary external threat and they're always wrong or lying. (Also honestly I kinda don't want "we should respect the grand traditions of not stealing or raping or lying" to be considered a conservative virtue)
On the other hand, it's deeply anti-imperialist, anti-rich privilege and its critique of the Trojan War is basically "no blood for oil." (And I think, on some level, anti-man; I think we're meant to think Circe had a point.) I don't think the diverse casting is window-dressing, in other words.
On one level, I totally get the sentiment of "ha ha conservatives hate The Odyssey but it's actually a conservative movie." It's deeply traditionalist, it believes Man should submit himself to God (or the Gods), it's about a manly white man doing manly things and having manly emotions
In the LEGO BATMAN movie Batman saves the day with his abs. Technically, that makes him the original ABSolute Batman.
