#NowPlaying Am I the only Beatles fan who loves Beatles for Sale? Yes, the exhausted Fabs resort to limp covers for some of it, but Eight Days a Week is one of their finest, Baby’s in Black, I’m a Loser and No Reply see them experimenting, and Rock and Roll Music surges from the speakers.

For a noir centred on a double-crossed getaway driver who after five years in jail is out to settle scores and get the money he missed out on, Cry Danger has a breezy, easy-going tone. It’s almost a hangout movie with jaunty Dick Powell, his new veteran buddy and an unabashed b-girl pickpocket.

Loved the You’re Not Alone Bowie show at The Lightroom. Quite close in feel to Brett Morgan’s Moonage Daydream in its chaptering Bowie’s work thematically. The size and immersive nature of the footage is overwhelming and often moving, and the 1978 Earl’s Court footage gorgeous.
