While idiotic, we should ignore this latest disaster and continue to talk about Natalie Harp, which is the story he doesn’t want to talk about. Stay focused and don’t let him control the media narrative.

Their ridiculously high tariffs on our Farmers and farm products has made life impossible for these great American Patriots, and has long created a 60 Billion Dollar Deficit between our two Countries. Not sustainable, and NOT ANYMORE! On January First, 2027, Tariffs on all Cars, Trucks, both large and small, Automotive Parts, and Steel, will be increased to 50%. Build in the U.S. and there are ZERO TARIFFS. Canada will be treated like a State no longer! On Trade, and in other ways, also, they are among the worst Nations in the World to deal with. They feel entitled, and yet, WE DON’T NEED CANADA, THEY NEED US! They do 95% of their business with the U.S., with us, the exact opposite! Thank you for your attention to this matter! AI is an anti-social technology. No one wants the slop, but it oozes over society nonetheless. People want to do an AI, they don’t want to get an AI.

3 years ago I worried that what I'd spent my career on--helping people develop ideas in writing--was no longer going to be valued in an AI-saturated society. But I don't worry about that now. I worry that students will miss the chance to become thinkers and that good thinking will be harder to find.

At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/

One of the biggest things I’ve learned as a college professor is to be on guard of those with ambition. Everything they do is “for the students” or for “equity” but it is really all for them.

I hate to say it, but the colleagues positioning themselves to be pro AI in teaching and curriculum, are probably also positioning themselves to be administrators, and probably aren’t thinking about or don’t care how it will affect teaching, learning, or the careers of those around them.

Future dystopian sci-fi has imagined things like nuclear wastelands, sure. Totalitarian oppression, climate catastrophe, sure. But rarely has it imagined today's real horror of AI making stupid and annoying people 100x worse.

danah boyd recently argued that social media (as we knew it) is mostly dead; what we have now is parasocial media: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... I agree. Networked social media is disappearing, replaced by a new logic/structure of content creator, creator-centered community, & algorithm.
