Riding BART to @bikeeastbay.bsky.social & @avaenergy.org’s E-Bike Test & Ride, realizing it won’t be possible to pull off events like this if RTM fails. Would be challenging to get so many staff there - nearly all ride BART - or to get 500+ attendees there. Let’s pass RTM to keep events like this!

For 20+ years I’ve had walking or walking to transit commutes. I’m not sure any amount of money could lure me to a job with a 1 hr car commute. It would destroy my mental health. Walking & BART are my decompression time, when I mentally prepare for the day and transition back to home & parenting.
“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath 50 reasons for more walkable streets.
What does surprise me is that anyone cares what she thinks. On the BART Board she tried again and again to destroy BART. She supported slashing service, was against demand based parking pricing, and opposed transit oriented development. Not someone anyone should listen to about transit policy.
Who is surprised that former BART Board Director Debora Allen is campaigning to destroy the agency she once served? Not me!
Absolutely bleak bus service planned for Central Contra Costa County if RTM fails. County Connection will have to cut 10 of its 22 lines. Nearly all of the remaining lines will have frequencies slashed to 60 minutes. RTM will not just save BART - it’s critical for every agency and community.
Like many Bay Area transit agencies, County Connection is facing a budget challenge. Our proposed Alternative Service Plan is not guaranteed; rather it provides a roadmap for reducing operating costs if additional funding does not become available. countyconnection.com/altservicepl...
Proud to promote Measure RTM, @votemjforec.bsky.social and @carolynwysinger.bsky.social! We must pass RTM to maintain robust transit service & prevent disastrous cuts. I'm excited to endorse Jawili & Wysinger for their positive visions for El Cerrito & strong support for housing, biking & walking.
Residential streets everywhere should have 15-20 mph speed limits, along with infrastructure changes to slow down cars. I’m working to make this happen in El Cerrito to make everyone safer and help more people feel comfortable biking and walking.
Japan has just made 30km/h (I.e. 20mph) the default in most residential roads due to the evidence-base from EU cities. etsc.eu/japan-makes-...
We're teaming up with @connectbayarea.bsky.social to get Measure RTM passed this November! We'll be hosting twice weekly phone banking nights at our office, starting Oct 13. We'll teach you all your need to know, just bring your love for transit! BikeEastBay.org/Election2026
Update: 12 hours later and I’m experiencing pain in my wrist, shoulders, back, and hips. A driver going 5 mph or less did this! I can’t stop thinking how much worse this could have been if the driver hadn’t stopped, if they had been moving faster, or if the car was bigger. Cars are so dangerous!
I’m very much physically ok but I just got hit by a slowly moving car as the driver backed out of a driveway on Richmond St. The bumper hit my pinky, which is now throbbing. But that’s nothing compared to how absolutely terrified I felt. If the driver hadn’t stopped it could have been much worse.

Want to learn about El Cerrito City Council candidates’ positions on open spaces, safe streets, fire safety and more? Attend a candidate forum this Thursday at 6 pm in person or on Zoom. Love that the co-host groups are providing childcare and pizza so families can attend! RSVP: luma.com/elmkuk6n
Today 33 East Bay elected officials called on AC Transit Board to censure Director Joel Young for substantiated gender-based harassment. AC Transit faces challenges that require a rider focus. That's not possible while Young's misconduct goes unaddressed. Letter: drive.google.com/file/d/1CUpO...
And imagine how many more Lyft Bike trips there would be in the East Bay if the system expanded to Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond!
Settle down, Lyft Bike! That's a lot of trips!
Any governing Board has three primary responsibilities: 1) Policy 2) Budget 3) Accountability Time to finally deliver on #3. Show up, or call in and demand the Board do its job.
If you too want to see the AC Transit Board take action and censure Director Young, please: Contact the Board: www.actransit.org/form/contact-the-board-of-directors Or speak out at the next Board meeting, Wednesday, October 14 at 5 pm in Oakland or Zoom: actransit.zoom.us/j/98487175063

Today while walking for @votemjforec.bsky.social I was reminded of the importance of canvassing door to door for local candidates. tl;dr I dispelled a lot of misinformation from Nextdoor and convinced the voter to vote for MJ for El Cerrito City Council and put up a yard sign.
We visited Powell’s this summer and bought our kid a book. When we got home from Portland, she got worried we had forgotten to return a library book. She was sure that a large place with so many books was a library. It took me a while to convince her we had bought the book and she could keep it.
Powell's City of Books might be the largest bookstore I've ever been in!
If you’re considering supporting Prop 45 or know any undecided folks, read this thread and share it. Prop 45 would do so much more harm than good, increasing vehicle miles traveled and wrecking our climate. We still need more CEQA reform, but this is not the way.
I listened to YIMBY Action’s debate on Prop 45 last night. I was struck by how the Yes side advanced absurd, frivolous and obviously wrong interpretation of 45 but also AB 130 with respect to infill, transportation and data centers.
Ran into El Cerrito City Council candidate @votemjforec.bsky.social campaigning at El Cerrito Plaza BART. Love supporting a candidate who gets around via transit and biking, and who’s spending so much time talking with voters.
Had a fantastic last day of Transit Month! I rode @bart.gov and @rideact.bsky.social for commuting, and @sfbayferry.com Woodstock water shuttle from Jack London to Alameda for lunch with the @bikeeastbay.bsky.social team. 🚄🚍⛴️❤️
This bill will have a HUGE impact for safety and for the future of e-bikes! So many complaints from individuals and media about e-bikes are actually about illegal e-motos. SB 1167 will get unsafe e-motos off our streets and paths and get riders onto legal, safe e-bikes or acoustic bikes instead.
Breaking news: SB 1167 has been signed into law! 🎉 This bill draws a clear line between legal e-bikes and faster, more powerful motor vehicles, and makes it harder for companies to market motorcycles and mopeds as “e-bikes.”
Our advocacy team is the best! If you are looking to get more engaged in bike advocacy, this is an incredible opportunity. Check out the job description and spread the word.
If you are excited about community organizing in the Tri-Valley & are somewhat technically-minded wrt bike infrastructure, please consider applying for this half-time role & work w me at @bikeeastbay.bsky.social: bikeeastbay.org/advo_app/
Gas prices have risen dramatically this year. For the typical driver, that's $65 more spent on gas monthly. If you're a typical F-150 driver in states like Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi, or Missouri, you're spending >$350 a month on gas now. We've got to give people other options.
Rising Gas Prices Are Punishing Household Finances. Policymakers Should Invest in Transit to Reduce Household Costs.
Amid months of rising gas prices, a typical driver now spends $65 more on fuel each month today than they did a year ago.

This is why I'm running to be your representative on @rideact.bsky.social's Board of Directors, Ward 3. I believe that the bus should be a viable commuting option in the East Bay, and not an option-of-last-resort that leaves people stranded.
Wtf is going on with AC transit the last few days. One of the business commuter lines in the system. Just casually cancelled during peak hours.
What’s extra absurd about this is that in my 12 years on the BART Board - heading a rail agency - no BART director ever attended an out of country rail conference. If AC Transit directors really want to attend rail conferences, there are plenty in the US.
Close - Director Joel Young is missing his fourth AC Transit board meeting this year to be in Berlin, Germany to attend the Innotrans rail conference. This is the second rail conference Young has attended in the past 3 months. (AC Transit does not operate rail and has no plans to operate rail)
Wow, looks like the AC Transit Board doesn’t want to hear from us. Email instead calling for censure of Director Young: www.actransit.org/form/contact...
The AC Transit Board has refused to hold Director Young accountable so let’s make some noise and urge them to censure him. Join me to make public comment at the AC Transit Board meeting tomorrow, Wednesday at 5 pm, 1600 Franklin St, Oakland or on Zoom: actransit.legistar.com/MeetingDetai...
Tonight at 5pm! Please respond if you’re able to join us. This is so important to me that I’ll be joining via Zoom in Anaheim, at the Cal Cities conference. Can you take 10 minutes to join by Zoom to urge the AC Transit Board to censure Director Young for substantiated gender-based harassment?

Or you could just ride a bus to BART (or to any other transit agency) and get up to $2.85 deducted from the fare immediately, not a future credit like this is. I’ve been using the free transfers from BART to AC Transit a lot for Transit Month. Those discounts add up!
Given past experience with Lyft/Uber, I'm skeptical, but Waymo is launching a program in the Bay Area where, if you take a transit trip within 2 hours of your Waymo trip (using the same Visa card), Waymo will give you $2.85 back for additional Waymo trips. So it's an incentive to be multimodal.

AC Transit and Director Joel Young thought they could sweep his harassment under the rug by hiding it and then lying about it. No way were we going to let that happen. Young isn’t fit for office, and since his colleagues won’t hold him accountable, voters must. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...
Cyrus is right! The SPUR report is fantastic and also, it WILL get worse if RTM doesn't pass. If it fails, there will likely be no BART within ~3 years. Massive service cuts -> massive ridership decline -> revenue loss -> more cuts -> cycle continues... We must pass the regional transit measure!
In many ways, the new study from SPUR is a best case scenario: BART magically stabilizes after massive cuts and doesn't end up shutting down entirely. That doesn't seem likely for any agency -- cuts will lead to loss of ridership which will lead to more cuts.
