I really, truly feel awful for the team at Restart, almost all of whom have faced professional uncertainty time and again in recent years - I want to make that crystal clear - but at the same time, how could anyone have believed Walmart wanted a viable editorial stake in games journalism?

Recovering Sonic fan. Avid collector of video game/ANIME music. Red Terror was a nickname my grandfather gave me. Hoping this service is The Chosen One.
My brain is so trained at sports that when I first saw this I thought Sonic and co exited the first round of the playoffs
Thank you SO MUCH for the overwhelming amount of incredible submissions to our 35th Anniversary Fan Art Showcase! We're excited to share some of our favorite selections soon!
Press release just went out about the trades they've already made so I sense the Phillies are done shopping. Doesn't feel like any of it matters anyway with Skubal to the Dodgers but whatever
I get it - you can’t just rip off Queen or a 1970s British sci-fi show without consequences - but it is a bit disappointing that all indications are the original title sequences aren’t a part of this new release.
The Big O! One of the true mecha classics returns! Both seasons. Subbed & dubbed. Plus the 5.1 English audio for season 2 is here! Coming soon.
Proud to have contributed a very tiny bit to this and also reminded I have a couple more I need to submit when I get a free moment!
20 years ago today, at 11:15 PM EST, an important milestone in VGMdb history was reached: our first album page was submitted. Full post: vgmdb.net/forums/showt...
To my pleasant surprise TEKKEN popped up for sale on my XBOX via Arcade Archives, and now I get to experience a ‘90s original I never thought I would unless I owned a Sony system. Hope TEKKEN 2 is next. Sega could take some notes from this - I’d love to play some standalone Model 2/3 games.

Erling Haaland looks like the Goomba bodyguards from the 90s Super Mario Bros movie change my mind

I went to Target tonight and passed by the game section - or, at least, what was left of it. There are now 1.5 racks of PlayStation games and half a rack of XBOX games at this particular location. Nintendo still had a full row. Retailers may yank physical before the companies do. You’ve been warned.
Really glad @rubyeclipse.bsky.social is back with Sega. Feels like the Sonic games need a bit of an advocate within the company again and I hope he has the opportunity to do so again. But also he had been so quiet for years I didn’t realize he left? Am I just this far removed from Sonic news now?
This kinda reiterates why physical media is so important. Because if all our history books become digital, they can change records of the truth on a whim.
I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.
BREAKING: Aaron Webber has announced at Anime Expo that he's returning to SEGA! He ran the Sonic Twitter in 2015, eventually became the social media director, was promoted to SEGA of Japan, & left in 2022 due to burnout. #SonicNews He will be returning to SEGA of Japan in the coming year.
It’s very unfair that the United States has to play Bosnia AND Herzegovina at the same time
Meaningless for a lot of folks if it can’t work with XBOX 360.
scoop: as Sony gets ready to scrap discs for PlayStation games, Xbox is quietly working on a disc-to-digital feature. It will allow you to digitize a physical game collection. Xbox is testing it internally, here's how it all works 👇 www.theverge.com/report/96017...
I’ve got bad news for anyone who believes Nintendo is going to be the last stand of physical media - if anything, Sony’s move today gives them cover to go full game key card. I have no confidence XBOX will stand antithetical to today’s announcement, either. What a complete disaster for consumers.
I guess that's that then, huh? The end of buying games for PlayStation for me - at least, for the most part. I guess I'll still play some games from time to time but talk about destroying interest in a platform. Only Nintendo remains but for how long? blog.playstation.com/2026/07/01/p...
If you’d like to get your hands on some concept art for Sonic 2 or the cancelled Mega Drive game B-Bomb, graphic designer Tom Payne has put items from his archive up for auction. The images should be available soon (though you can already find scans elsewhere online). www.ha.com/c/search/res...
There's some talk going around that the manufacturer of this table, Jersey Jack Pinball, is MAGA-coded or adjacent. I don't see enormous evidence of it, but the business practices might invite some scrutiny, and they did make a Harry Potter-themed table, which will be a point of contention for some.
BREAKING: Sonic the Hedgehog Pinball has been unveiled by Jersey Jack! #SonicNews Sonic's first full-sized pinball table, it's themed around Sonic Generations, featuring animation & music from it. It's crafted by pinball designer legend Steve Ritchie. Article with loads of info in replies.
New rule: Nothing can be a "definitive edition" unless you have a definitive, permanent, physical way to play it. There was and is no reason for Sega to cheap out on key cards for the upcoming Frontiers release on Switch, and I urge the company to reconsider adopting this affront to physical media.
Couple things in reaction to this: 1) The use of AI IMO is still borderline unacceptable BUT 2) Folks forget Sega has a history of outright plagiarizing fan-created art - I know because we did a series of reports about it in ASR/SBK way back when This feels like a "pick your poison" situation. Ugh
We asked Crazy Taxi: World Tour director Kenji Kanno about the game’s use of generative AI:
Like many others, I am extremely conflicted about Sega’s use of AI in Crazy Taxi (and moreso about future use) - they did disclose, and that’s better than most, but the disclosure is far too vague. I know much of the Sonic fandom will not tolerate the next Sonic having GenAI. Need more transparency.
This makes no sense - the northeast is completely passed over. Surely those dates are coming soon...?
UPDATE: Sonic Live in Concert isn't just coming to London! @sonic-official.bsky.social has announced official tour dates across the U.S. & UK! #SonicNews Check them out below:
Just finished Vampire Crawlers. What a great game - easy to pick up, and has so much to keep you coming back even when you Game Over.
This also applies to Sega vs SEGA. Signed, someone who wrote Sega in stories thousands of times without a second thought for 20 some odd years.
I think it's fine for Xbox to change its name to XBOX but also don't let that impact whatever your editorial style is. Companies do this all the time to try to put extra emphasis on their brand. Your job is to not fall for that and keep doing whatever seems sane. You do not need to write inFAMOUS.
I own about as much of Yuji Ohno’s discography as I do Yoko Kanno’s. To enjoy the success he had - not just with Lupin, but his entire body of work over six decades - and to remain dedicated to his craft until the very end says how much he loved jazz. How I wish I could seen him perform live.
