I really, truly feel awful for the team at Restart, almost all of whom have faced professional uncertainty time and again in recent years - I want to make that crystal clear - but at the same time, how could anyone have believed Walmart wanted a viable editorial stake in games journalism?

Press release just went out about the trades they've already made so I sense the Phillies are done shopping. Doesn't feel like any of it matters anyway with Skubal to the Dodgers but whatever

To my pleasant surprise TEKKEN popped up for sale on my XBOX via Arcade Archives, and now I get to experience a ‘90s original I never thought I would unless I owned a Sony system. Hope TEKKEN 2 is next. Sega could take some notes from this - I’d love to play some standalone Model 2/3 games.

I went to Target tonight and passed by the game section - or, at least, what was left of it. There are now 1.5 racks of PlayStation games and half a rack of XBOX games at this particular location. Nintendo still had a full row. Retailers may yank physical before the companies do. You’ve been warned.

Really glad @rubyeclipse.bsky.social is back with Sega. Feels like the Sonic games need a bit of an advocate within the company again and I hope he has the opportunity to do so again. But also he had been so quiet for years I didn’t realize he left? Am I just this far removed from Sonic news now?

I’ve got bad news for anyone who believes Nintendo is going to be the last stand of physical media - if anything, Sony’s move today gives them cover to go full game key card. I have no confidence XBOX will stand antithetical to today’s announcement, either. What a complete disaster for consumers.

I guess that's that then, huh? The end of buying games for PlayStation for me - at least, for the most part. I guess I'll still play some games from time to time but talk about destroying interest in a platform. Only Nintendo remains but for how long? blog.playstation.com/2026/07/01/p...

There's some talk going around that the manufacturer of this table, Jersey Jack Pinball, is MAGA-coded or adjacent. I don't see enormous evidence of it, but the business practices might invite some scrutiny, and they did make a Harry Potter-themed table, which will be a point of contention for some.

New rule: Nothing can be a "definitive edition" unless you have a definitive, permanent, physical way to play it. There was and is no reason for Sega to cheap out on key cards for the upcoming Frontiers release on Switch, and I urge the company to reconsider adopting this affront to physical media.

Like many others, I am extremely conflicted about Sega’s use of AI in Crazy Taxi (and moreso about future use) - they did disclose, and that’s better than most, but the disclosure is far too vague. I know much of the Sonic fandom will not tolerate the next Sonic having GenAI. Need more transparency.

Just finished Vampire Crawlers. What a great game - easy to pick up, and has so much to keep you coming back even when you Game Over.

I own about as much of Yuji Ohno’s discography as I do Yoko Kanno’s. To enjoy the success he had - not just with Lupin, but his entire body of work over six decades - and to remain dedicated to his craft until the very end says how much he loved jazz. How I wish I could seen him perform live.
