Friend & REFACTR speaker @kimcrayton1.bsky.social just dropped The Predator's Table, on how predatory power keeps its seat no matter who's in the room. Grab it:

The Predator's Table: Facing the Truth About the Myth of White Supremacy

You have been told the table is the destination. Get in the room. Earn a seat. Give more, ask less, make yourself acceptable to the arrangement. The arrangement has a name. This book names it: the Predator's Table. The Predator's Table is not a metaphor. It is the operating logic of the myth of white supremacy, the mechanism through which systems, institutions, and policies were built and maintained to extract value from some and protect the position of others. The myth convinced everyone at the table that the arrangement is natural, inevitable, and the best that is available. It convinced those with the most power that they have the most to protect. And it convinced everyone else that the problem is themselves. The Predator's Table: Facing the Truth About the Myth of White Supremacy is a field guide for white folx who are willing to look at what they have been living inside and decide to refuse it. Not to reform it. Not to get a better seat. To become unavailable to it entirely.Kim Crayton has spent thirty years tracing how the myth operates: not as attitude or bias, but as a designed and resourced system running through every institution white folx were born into and every policy that shaped what was possible before they made a single choice. This book does not ask you to feel guilty about that. It asks something harder: to see it accurately, name what it has cost you and everyone around you, and build the capacity to practice differently. The myth does its most effective work in the space between what you intend and what you actually do. That space is where this book operates. Each chapter builds the argument one layer at a time, naming how the myth installs itself in thought, behavior, organizational decision-making, and economic logic, and what it costs at each layer. Each chapter closes with three prompts: Spot the Pattern, Name the Cost, Try This Instead. These are not reflection questions. They are tools. The field guide travels with you because the work does not happen in a single reading. It happens in the moment when the myth shows up in a meeting, in a budget decision, in who gets heard and who gets told to wait. The prompts are designed for those moments. The destination this book builds toward is sovereignty: the condition in which the myth of white supremacy no longer has an address inside you. Not freedom from the myth's ongoing operation in the world. The internal state in which it can no longer reach what it once reached. That destination is available. This book is the map.
