This David French Op Ed about how we actually won the GWOT is the most rose tinted nonsense I’ve read in awhile. We fucking lost man. He completely overlooks the growth of Daesh, the proliferation of jihadist ideology, the erosion of civil liberties at home. Who approved this shit?

My cat died today and it sucks. Towards the end I had to make a phone call trying to find somewhere to cremate her remains. The mailman showed up and asked me how I was doing and I responded “Doing good, how about you?” Dear reader I was not good.
If the universe could chill, it would be appreciated. This has been a week.
The world lost a real Saint yesterday. My aunt died after a short intense battle with cancer. A woman who despite suffering unspeakable tragedies in her life always found room to comfort others. As a psychiatrist and guidance counselor she served the community of NW Wisconsin with grace and love.
I cannot recommend @socialistdogmom.bsky.social “Weird Little Guys” strongly enough. Her passion and dedication to telling the full story shows in every episode. I’ve never had a podcast bring me to tears multiple times before. Incredible research and storytelling. Bravo!
The question is: why did Natalie Harp resist applying for a security clearance? What doesn't she want anyone to find out? www.ms.now/news/trump-a...
Trump aide Natalie Harp worked at the White House without security clearance for a year
The close aide to the president, known to filter much of the information reaching the commander-in-chief, ultimately relented in recent months after pressure from White House staff.

The eternal argument with myself: Home Gym with no HVAC or Gym membership where a bro is screaming as he lifts shirtless while taking up three benches?
We've got quite the story for you 🧵
You and I — all of us taxpayers — funded this $533 million artillery plant outside of Dallas. It hasn’t produced a single usable shell. Yet the defense contractor, General Dynamics, has never been held publicly accountable. Nor has it had to pay a penny back… 1/
Being a Middle Aged Man* Im trying to take up cycling for general fitness and to give my knees a break. Question, when the hell did bicycles become so expensive?
The problem with moving is you will lose at least one thing. Losing this one thing and the inability to find it will drive you crazy.
This site oscillates between doom posting and finger pointing. Meanwhile I post about shows that came out years ago that no one watched. We are not the same.
Daredevil can be such a frustrating show. They have an absolutely incredible cast and the writing can just kill it (the Punisher and Daredevil scene in season 1). The execution can just be so disjointed though. It’s a microcosm of the Marvel universe writ large.
Every panicked news story about billionaires fleeing the city makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
"Now we’re stuck in a conflict that literally no one believes in—not the people waging it, not the people defending it, not the people fighting it. And soon the time will come to rip away, yet again, our comfortable illusions about ourselves. Maybe this is who we are."
What We Didn’t Learn from Vietnam
Playboy once published some of the most incisive antiwar writing in the U.S. Now, we explore myths that continue to shape American conflict.

The fact that VP JD Vance and Richard Grenell went to Romania—on behalf of the Trump Administration— to advocate for Andrew and Tristan Tate, who by all accounts, were rapists running a coercive sex ring, then permitted them to come to Florida, should be a crazy, crazy scandal.
I cannot recommend @juliaioffe.bsky.social ‘s book Motherland strongly enough. The chapter “Gasoline” is harrowing and should serve as a warning for America. There’s a reason the right loves Russia so much. They love the paternalism, violence, and religiosity of Russia and want an American version.
RIP Lindsey Graham. You taught me it was okay to be a coward whose only skill is debasing myself until death for a tiny, ultimately illusionary crumb of power.
"Platner offered a blue-tinted, ideologically acceptable variation on old misogynistic themes with something for everyone: anti-Israel leftists, liberals looking for the next charisma god, feminists desperate to get Collins out, DSA types who wanted a big strong man to take on the 'Epstein class'…"
Graham Platner Must Go
Democrats made the Devil's bargain with Graham Platner. The Adversary has come to collect.

Independence Day 2 is easily the worst sci-fi movie I’ve seen in 20 years.
What is the deal with showing crying kids at sporting events? What exactly is this supposed to do for the viewing audience?
The red card was bullshit to begin with and Balogun isn't the only person to get his card "suspended" during this WC. FIFA is a pile of shit organization. All of these things can be correct and this situation also be dumb as hell.
Anti-Prime Day starts…NOW! 🥳 Today through 6/26, enjoy free standard shipping site-wide, all while supporting local, independent bookstores.
Yard work should always be followed by back yard beers. Beautiful breeze, freshly cut grass, cold beer. Good God am I lame 😂
For all the runners in their 50s and 60s: Do you just have genetically better joints than the rest of us or an incredible amount of pain tolerance? Asking for a friend with creaky knees in his 40s.
One of the weirdest things about adulthood is being able to openly enjoy all the nerdy stuff I repressed as a teen. Star Wars, Star Trek, WW2 books all absolutely cool now. Teenage me: man what I wouldn’t give to meet a girl who wants to watch TNG.
