1/ Trump was found liable for sexually assaulting E Jean Carroll, defaming her, and now he’s going after her again. Trump cannot be allowed to use the full weight and power of the US Government to come after women who speak up, or anyone who supports them in doing so.

My writing today in the @sfstandard.com: Too many Silicon Valley leaders have divested themselves of the responsibility to speak out against the Trump administration. We can’t shrink away and hope the crisis fades. It’s time for all of us in tech to do and say more.

“Science, like all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man.” - JFK Sometimes tech critics lose sight of this, treating technology itself as inherently bad. That’s when society starts surrendering its agency instead of exercising it

I’ve long believed Bill Gates deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. His decision to distribute virtually all his wealth through the Gates Foundation by 2045 is just the latest evidence of this fact. It reflects the kind of decisive, high-leverage action we need.

No mother or child should die from a preventable cause. No generation should live in fear of deadly infectious diseases. And no one should be denied the chance to thrive because of where they were born. gatesnot.es/4m5pSc3

Urgent: We've learned that USDA funding cuts will prevent 630,000 lbs of food from reaching Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. This would've been distributed to our most vulnerable neighbors–– and was to be sourced from US farmers, who are now losing out on crucial revenue. We need your help

It's alright! I am a proponent of conversation and think that disagreement is important. The future is coming. It's up to us to describe the positive future we want and steer towards it. Humanity has successfully navigated technological transitions before.

Oh no. These types of posts don't go well on Bluesky. The users here once rallied against semantic tagging because they thought it was "the plagiarism machine" that "set California on fire by drinking all the water". Best of luck.

On AI & Jobs: Most jobs will be human + AI. And, yes, it's also true that AI will do some jobs alone. Throughout history, it’s been a net positive for society to have machines do more of the work, and give humans the ability to think, create, etc. AI can give *more* humans that bandwidth.
