I'm trying to view this in a positive light, but since Bluesky is the only social media app that I am active on, I am concerned a push towards the right could lead to Bluesky becoming a right wing MAGAphone.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
Heartbreaking. "More than 600 structures destroyed". This article explains ways to help.
How to help those affected by the Spokane Area Fires

🌱 It's a stay off of social kind of day. Dr. Fauci saved lives. I knew people who refused the vaccine because of right-wing politicians and ultimately lost their lives to Covid. I'm grateful to have a garden to find solace. Enjoy this white Hollyhock bloom from my #garden. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b
Not surprised. My 20-somethings recently asked where the old Wii system is, and I personally have reverted to listening to 80s music because I can trust that it was created by real artists.
Hatred of AI now reaching the level of cultural consensus that becomes attractive to advertisers
ICE has also accessed Flock cameras, yet, cities across America continue to install them.
ICE is rapidly expanding its surveillance capabilities. The agency has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on vehicles equipped to support cell-site simulators, also known as fake cellphone towers.
Lol. I'm feeling this today. I have an appointment and am worried if I start working on a project I'll lose track of time and be late for or miss my appointment.
HOW do I get out of waiting mode
I'll be curious to see how this plays out IRL. Lately I have been researching privacy concerns regarding Flock surveillance cameras & home surveillance systems such as Ring. I'm also disgusted at how much my Google phone is tracking, even though I keep my mic and camera off unless I'm using them.
Your Phone's Location Data Is Now Protected by the Fourth Amendment
A new Supreme Court ruling says a person does not lose constitutional protection just because their phone constantly sends data to a private company.

A couple of hot air balloons this evening, from the view of my backyard. Every now and then we will see them. They're fun to watch.
Sharing FYI. It doesn't affect me. I wiped all Meta accounts after the last Presidential election.
“As part of this update, public Instagram profiles are now automatically opted into being fodder for generative AI remixes. All someone has to do is tag your account’s profile in a prompt—if it’s public—and they can use Meta AI to generate an image using your likeness.”
🌱 This is 'Sheila's Perfume'. She struggles a little bit because she's in pretty deep shade most of the day. She gets a small amount of sun in late afternoon. Hopefully, after our fence is finished, we can find a more suitable spot for her. Her scent is divine. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b
Goodnight Bluesky. America leaves 250 years in the past. The future is ours to shape. This was the view from my backyard. Fireworks were a constant all evening long.
🌱 Today was a beautiful, balmy, comfortable day. Feeling grateful. Hope your 4th was fabulous. For those in the PNW, enjoy the fireworks as the shows begin around the region. #garden #Zone8b #bloomscrolling
On 20th November 1986, the rose was declared the national flower of the United States. So today, a bouquet of roses from an English garden, sent with warmest wishes to all our friends across the pond for a very happy 4th of July. Have a wonderful Independence Day!
I visited the Billy Frank Jr. National Wildlife Refuge for the first time today. This is the view of #MountTahoma / #MountRainier from the end of the mile-long Nisqually estuary boardwalk. There are so many beautiful places to see in Washington State, it may be impossible to visit all of them.
🌱 I think I'll start calling my "purple garden" the "jewel tones garden". I'm not going to edit the beauties that self-seed in my garden beds. These snapdragons that now reside in my purple bed originated in a #garden bed that is dedicated to yellow, orange and peach tones. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b
These particular robots are in the UK, but some American cities do have them. I can only imagine the disasters of robots vs. Lime bike that could happen if these became popular in downtown Seattle.
Humans should not be forced off pavements by delivery robots, but that's exactly what's happening. The people who pay the price are those with the least room to give it up.
🌱 In 2020 a friend recommended that I start to #garden again. My mom had passed, I was deep in grief, we were worried about finances due to the pandemic. I bought a tiny penstemon for $12, which seemed expensive. I have since divided that plant many times. It was money well spent. #bloomscrolling
Today is a day for good news. Fun Fact: Kim Wyman, a Republican, served as Washington's Secretary of State from 2013 to 2021. During her tenure, she did a significant amount of work to ensure that voting by mail is secure.
Great news for Washingtonians and the millions of Americans who vote by mail. Today's Supreme Court decision upheld laws allowing ballots to be counted after Election Day, reinforcing access to voting and confidence in the electoral process.
Thankful that Washington State didn't waste taxpayer dollars to have a booth at the State Fair in Washington DC. I can't wrap my brain around how the "fiscally conservative" party finds so many ways to waste taxpayer money.
🌱This bold beauty is a hybrid tea called "Eleganza Grande Amore'. It's a bright red rose with a warm undertone. While most of my roses are planted in the ground, this one seems happy enough growing in a half whiskey barrel. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b
🌱 Wishing everyone a happy #pride weekend! 🏳️🌈 This rose from my #garden is blooming bright. Its name is Poseidon. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b
🌱 The map in this video didn't include Washington as having the invasive jumping worm, yet a few years ago, I found one in my WA #garden. People from other WA cities have reported finding them, too. This video explains the damage they do. If you find jumping worms, seal in a plastic bag and dispose.
