hard drive has simultaneously never been so well maintained or so full, because i keep having to remove bloat to fit more dragon's dogma 2 footage. if i ever have a video go wide i am immediately purchasing a storage bay lmao this sucks

a nice thing about doing a walking tour style video is that most of the like...outlining/structure is determined by the route you take through the game. what part of the video comes next? the next place you went in the game, dumbass.

i actually think the problem is full V.O., for many many different reasons. it not only balloons production scope, but it also frequently grinds narrative pacing to a halt. especially for dialogue heavy games! if they're this skippable; many of these cutscenes could have and should have been emails.

okay i'm sorry but the 1.5x speed watching brainrot has gone too far if we're now doing playback speed for video game dialogue

it is a real tragedy that we are not all constantly talking about Prominence, a modder for the solo-dev tactics RPG Horizon's Gate, who has almost singlehandedly produced an entire second video game's worth of content; seemingly unprompted. a just industry would never shut up about people like this.

ty to suriel for reminding me to also plug my consultancy services. i *also* provided feedback on MS2 among other things recently. i really, really love providing feedback on in-development projects and do so at competitive rates! (particularly flexible for indie devs)

You don't get public credits often in consulting, so it's nice to get one every once in a while. Thanks to the team at @playstack.com for letting me consult on Mortal Shell 2, along with some other cool folks!

Screenshot of the in-game "Special Thanks" section of the credits for Mortal Shell 2, where you can see ya boi's name.

AHEM. i had what i would describe as "a housing emergency" which delayed the difficulty series A Lot. thankfully, i am submitting three shorter video scripts to my editor later today. i will not give firm dates yet but expect those sooner than you may think!!! i will reveal 2 of the 3 draft titles.

microsoft (evil) will keep doing this for as long as they have dozens to hundreds of consultants constantly telling them that their only path to profitability is through downsizing internal teams and outsourcing development to large 3rd party studios like Keywords.

let me just say: i would Personally be cautious about reporting about situations for which there are likely ongoing negotiations. especially when those negotiations will be heavily influenced by the public perception of the parties in question.

i think that "we need consoles because they are plug and play" is part of how we got here in the first place. consoles have never been frictionless game machines. they have mechanical parts. they break! sometimes you need to blow on a cartridge or clean a disk or even replace a disk drive.

really appreciate the sympathy and listings people have sent so far! and if you need writing, research, interviews, or editing in the near future I will have a lot more time starting in August to take on more one off projects.

just sent the email ending the lease at my apartment of 4 years to move next month AND got word I'm losing my part-time editing job that's covered my cost of living for 3 years so uh hey who needs a copy editor?
