Only in Sparks of Tomorrow do you get a pivotal point in a character arc about freedom beyond gender roles, while at the same time they're inventing heavy metal by accident. Such a visual rollercoaster too, with deranged concepts meeting Tomomi Sato's traditionally excellent, emotive animation

Legal Beat started quite late this season, but it has already become one of my favourite shows right now. It’s a good premise that is being executed quite well, even if the whole rap in the middle of court thing is a bit silly. (Grounded in being well meaning tho!)

Crunchyroll uploaded this weeks Please Excuse My Younger Brothers with no subtitles, which is the singular version of their broke uploads that doesn’t bother me since I don’t necessarily need the subs. Usually these issues present as no English subs so display an entirely different language instead.
I binged my way through the last three volumes of Tokyo Aliens so now I’m entirely caught up (without reading my stockpile of GFantasy anyways). Some really interesting new characters just got introduced huh, I kind of love them already even though they’re sort of antagonists.
There’s a lot of great stuff in The Complete Guide to Real Japanese at a glance, but it’s examples like this that are tremendously valuable to someone like me. I was always so confused about why 沼 would be used in a positive way in the context of fandom, until I spent time researching.
Yaaay my books arrived. And some work stuff. And my blu-ray~ Someone on my timeline was recommending The Complete Guide to Real Japanese a few months ago and it seems really interesting from a quick flick through, glad I bought it!
And now it is somehow well after bedtime as I wonder if my books that are currently in Germany might make it here tomorrow (good odds generally).
Meanwhile further attacks on my free time while Yoasobi is off happened. Hayabusa Fire Brigade is on again, so just catching the last episodes that I somehow missed over the new year broadcast (how that happened I genuinely don’t know).
They’re rebroadcasting a lot of stuff with Takeru Satoh in it, which usually means he’d be starring in something new and relevant but I don’t think there’s anything announced?

I listen to my extremely long backlog of anime radio shows on my commute in the morning. Today’s listening is the final episode for My Hero Academia final season and I got to work nearish the end where Yamashita has been reduced to tears and it feels bad to turn it off right here 😭😭

Went to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Was great, particularly for giving us Punisher as the character he usually is (that Disney + special was dreadful, I’m sorry). Loved the story arc for Peter and felt it did a good job working through his mental state. Was fun.
Yoasobi is on Connect week / regular broadcast break, so I figured this is a perfect time to get back on top of my dramas / podcasts / etc. But now they’re rebroadcasting 女神の教室 which I’ve never seen before but has Yuki Yamada and Miyano in the cast, so uh, goodbye that spare time I gained?
Almost locked myself out of my phone this morning because I was convinced my passcode was one of two options and it was neither (but very similar to so the muscle memory was working against me) In the end partner managed to help me figure out what it actually was. It has been the same for years too🤦♀️
I don’t remember the Strongest Rearguard LN being anywhere near as horny as this anime is. I guess maybe it was less compressed in the book so you didn’t notice or…?
Yomichan finally stopped working so I had to find all my dictionary files to finally set up Yomitan. It’s not difficult but it’s not what I wanna be doing on a lazy Sunday either
