We need #Degrowth for many reasons. Enshittification and how it absolutely impacts every aspect of working-class struggles is a big reason to support degrowth. Enshittification also just happens to extra piss me off because it has an outside impact on disabled people.

Imagine that. The politics of caring about people and the environment… has benefits to people and the environment.
Iowa's long-simmering water problem has finally begun to boil over. And in a state long dominated by Republicans, the motivating power of tainted water and rising cancer rates could give Dems an opening in the midterms. Read our report with @thefern.org👇 politi.co/4fccp0F
All the pollution, destruction, death, and trauma caused by this fire season rests on the heads of capitalists. Never forget that people KNEW this was going to happen decades ago and not only did nothing, but purposefully went the other direction. If that's not evil, what's evil?
Needing recommendations. Looking for an air quality monitor device that is portable. Tracking common VOCs would be nice but I’ll settle for typical #AQI factors and CO2. But NO to another app or features behind a sign-up. That’s what I’m having difficulty finding. #RecommendationsNeeded
My disabled ass is too exhausted for a coherent addition, but the underlying list in this thread is so useful. #Boosting #ADA #MAHA
Everyone who is saying we need to embrace MAHA or collaborate with MAHA are eugenicist fucks who want to kill disabled people. Or they're too unthinking and ignorant, too unsophisticated and gullible, to listen to on anything.

"Fascism"—New Federal Rule Would Require Federal Funding Recipients To Deny Trans People Exist
The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.

THEN CONGRESS SHOULD BE EMPTY! For fucks sake.
sorry for doing the twitter screenshot thing here but man this sucks
The age of perfectionism is over. Generative AI has finally killed perfectionism. I’m not sure it’s worth the cost. But I’ll accept that small benefit, anyway.
Quote: "Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people..." This is VERY BAD. US-Americans need to comment. Reporting: www.erininthemorning.com/p/fascismnew...

Biological man this, biological woman that... the only biology I am concerned about is the immune system that tries to kill me daily. Biological essentialism is so fucking weird and wrong. We are just sacks of water and membranes and salts that decided to work together by luck and happenstance.
We have a little over 24 hours to save the internet. The vote for a package of internet-freedom destroying bills is being rushed to the US House floor on Monday the 29th. Spread this beyond Bluesky, ASAP. www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...

I really love reptiles. Birds and snakes especially. I admire those reptiles who spend their lives sitting really still in one place hoping something will walk in front of them so they can eat that thing. The fact so many reptiles use this strategy is so amusing and says a lot.
🙏PLEASE🙏 the Earth needs us to universally wake up.
Maybe someday there will be a leftist who does not double down on an ableist take when gently corrected by disabled/chronically ill people. But it is not today. Speaker intent can lead a correction to be gentler... it does not negate the need for correction!
Without whimsy I'd be bed rotting in all respects, not just physical.

I’m seeing people who’ve denied my lifelong chronic illness now all becoming disabled (either from age or other factors, like #COVID). Some are getting empathy. Others still deny disabled folks are marginalized… while also being upset when THEY are dismissed by society & denied care.
I’m a climate scientist. Let me fix this headline. “Nearly a century ago, scientists showed that burning fossil fuels warms the planet. Today, we know human emissions account for over 100% of the warming. Yet dark money and disinformation still work to keep Americans addicted to fossil fuels.”
Scientists have reached a consensus that human behavior is a big driver of climate change—but Americans aren't buying it.
This Tuesday has Thursday vibes and I have mixed feelings about that.
One thing I’ve learned from this hantavirus outbreak is that people are still not masking—and resistant to masking—even on planes or other crowded travel. Literally had people asking me about how concerned they should be and then got pissed when I said they should 😷
Everyone talking about the skyrocketing food prices and here I am thinking about the #DisabilityTax. Disabled people often have to pay more to stay fed already… or have food that is less accessible. I am really worried about food access for sensitive populations. Things were already so bad.
When we switched health insurance recently we spent literal hours going back and forth checking that our doctors and medications were in network & covered. First claims are coming back as out of network/not covered. I’d scream if I wasn’t exhausted to my bones. #USAHealthcare ie #DeathCare
My worksona has been saying for years that we need to switch to low-or-no input agriculture to have any hope of sustainable food production. Most folks don’t realize how many fossil fuels conventional ag uses. Now we are going to see the consequences of NOT swapping. I am really worried.
US-Americans: what is your first memory of interacting one-on-one with a cop? Because as a white person I was taught to trust cops without reservation... but my lived experience taught me otherwise.
Violence in the face of violence is self defense. Every man, woman, Enby and child, has a right to defend themselves from being harmed.
Revolt is not a dirty word. Rebellion is not a dirty word. Violence is not a dirty word. When you are being annihilated, these actions become required. At that point, fuck the law and fuck conventional morality. What, you want to go quietly when it's your turn? Everything depends on context!
I accept that as a #Disabled person I am probably not going to survive the coming collapse of civilization. But I still fully plan to fight for my survival (and my comrades') till I drop. It isn't hope or blind faith. I believe the fight for justice is worth the salt... even if we lose in the end.
The USA seriously needs crop insurance reform. How we grow food in this country is rotten and based on profit, not actually feeding people. “At scale” is often used to denote profit, not impact. It’s gross.
NEW: A series of changes to USDA crop insurance subsidies will cost the public an estimated additional $38.1 billion over ten years, mostly benefiting large commodity farms, and funneling billions directly to insurers. www.iatp.org/costs-increa...
