The most terrifying enshittification I've discovered has been learning that Microsoft Word documents no longer auto-save if you are not saving them to one of their own proprietary cloud services. I'm slapping control-S like it's 1999.
What I somewhat hope is that when this charade is finally over, middle of the road voters will be so pissed they’ll go vote against a Republican at the midterms just out of spite. I think I’m projecting my own frustration at these theatrics but one can only hope.

Gillian Brockell@gillianbrockell.com · 9mo agoWhen I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”

If the head of US intelligence isn't able to say who won the election in 2020, then maybe he shouldn't be head of US intelligence.
But do I really hope Meta gets bitten by this. Come the fuck on. At best the humans in HR who validated the output of their AI tool severely lacked judgement. At worst the AI made the decision and this should be a cardinal sin for any company.

Dear politicians: you do not, in fact, have to find something positive to say about a deceased political figure if they didn’t have good morals. Even from a purely transactional point of view, being nice to a person your electorate perceives as a piece of shit is not a winning move!

It’s funny how in those cases it’s almost always the cost base that’s to blame rather than, say, an error in strategy or in execution. One wonders who allowed the company to get to these levels of staffing if it really is unsustainable
