Pity America. A true kakistocracy led by a thieving, malignant narcissist. It has the worst healthcare, the worst education system, the highest incarceration rate, the highest execution rate, probably the highest crime rate, the most oppressive labour laws in the entire OECD.

WTF is the Orange Arsehole up to now? He makes a deal with Putin to import a nugatory quantity of diesel fuel from Russia – fuel they can ill afford to sell – which will make no different to the price at US gas stations. Will he then try to blame Zelenskyy for the high price of US diesel?

www.theguardian.com/politics/202... The by-election was in reality a massive victory for the Lethargy Party. Neither Burnham's Labour nor Polanski's Greens could persuade more than 40% of the voters to get off their arses and vote. Must try harder.

www.theguardian.com/business/202... If Labour is to survive, and the country avoid sliding into fascism, it is going to have to tackle the right wing drones in the Treasury – and John Healey is most definitely yNOT the man for that job. While they're about it clear out the gangs of lobbyists.

Remember the Tories don’t care about people, they never did and this will never change. All the issue we face started with them forcing Neoliberalism on us. 😡

There was a time when the Tories, however hypocritically, claimed to want to protect our natural heritage. Now they're just a party of vandals, ripping down the few protections the living world has for the sake of their rich chums. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The Tories are increasingly Trumpian in their policies and utterances; kinda dumb when you think how fast Trump is sinking in the US polls. Perhaps if/when he loses control of Congress – assuming he doesn't declare martial law as a result – they might take stock. Or not.

As long as the Tories are threatening to leave the ECHR, they aren’t a serious party. Consider it the ultimate red flag. Any party who’d take this entirely unnecessary and ruinous risk with our rights and our country’s security and wellbeing should never get its hands on power. (Letter, Times)

Value of the
ECHR
Sir, In dangerous times, serious countries do not retreat into splendid isolation. They build alliances, multiply their influence and strengthen institutions. Key among those is the 46-member Council of Europe, at its heart the European Convention on Human Rights. As former independent reviewers of terrorism legislation we have seen at close quarters that the ECHR is not just a human rights instrument. It is a national security asset. Terrorist networks, hostile states, organised crime gangs and people smugglers do not respect borders. Tackling them requires arrangements for the closest possible co-operation with our neighbours, including through joint investigations and police access to European passenger, fingerprint, DNA and vehicle data. These arrangements expressly depend on internationally agreed human rights standards, applied by a supranational court. We detect no political willingness to excuse the UK from compliance with standards to which the rest of Europe already subscribes. As authoritarian powers grow more aggressive and democratic institutions face mounting pressure, Britain should not be abandoning one of its greatest postwar achievements.
The question is not whether we can afford to remain within the ECHR. It is whether, in an increasingly perilous world, we can afford not to.

www.theguardian.com/politics/202... Do these fucking morons learn nothing? It's their savage cuts to the public sector that have created the bloody mess we're currently living in – and now they want to make it all worse. Fuck them and all who are idiot enough to vote for them!
