Educated wisdom is that we should be very careful of moving forward. It doesn’t say not to, it says be sure that all possible stops are in place. The big problem is that almost no matter what we do, AI systems may figure out a way around it. Somehow, the stops must be rock solid, and unbreakable.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social · 18h agoBillionaire families have spent $1.7 BILLION on the 2026 midterms so far — a 5,200% increase since the 2010 midterms. Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day. Big Money is the root of our dysfunction.
There are so many strong arguments for voting blue. That is, if you are intelligent enough and allow at least a little bit of logic to supersede your hatred and prejudice.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social · 23h agoSpeaking at a campaign event in Syracuse, Trump throws a tantrum lasting more than 10 minutes focused on the Nobel Prize in which he lavishes praise on himself and attacks the highly qualified and respected recipient of the award. He ends the tantrum with a wave of threats targeting Norway.
They are alerting all of California, and hopefully waking up every other state, that this is the proper thing to do, on so many levels.

By spending their fortunes trying to stop California from taxing billionaires, they're making the argument for a billionaire wealth tax more clearly and articulately than anyone else possibly could.
