I’d be lying if I said some of the reactions to Caine’s deletion didn’t break my heart a bit. Obviously what Caine did was awful, and he needed to stop. Yet I remember the kid I was, so similar to Caine - lonely, craving connection but dismayed and angry when most attempts to make friends failed.

I think to reduce Caine down to “he’s just like AM now” is a bit too simple; I view him less as a villain and a monster, and more as a neglected child having a tantrum. His breakdown, while certainly malicious, was driven by anguish and confusion at the world rather than solely anger or hate.
