From what I can tell, the "conflict" between DSA and centrist Democrats seems to be "let's try to do something about *gesturing* all this" vs "but I am le tired and that sounds hard."

In June, I submitted a short story to @clarkesworldmagazine.com about a woman whose work mandated she receive an optical implant that becomes infected with malware. Reading the July issue of Clarkesworld, I see a much better story that has a similar plot device. No wonder they rejected it.

"Why isn't my small business succeeding?" Probably because you're charging $20 for an egg roll, my guy.

Southerner here. Can confirm. Local political ads in the South are *wild*. They're often openly racist, full of weird delusions, and then they pivot to blaming all the problems on Democrats who haven't been in power in living memory.

One last thing, and I swear I'm done. A nurse at my ER internship told me about what it was like working in the ICU during COVID. Two patients per room, everybody on a ventilator or high flow oxygen.

I remember them burying prisoners at Rikers in mass graves. Hospitals out of ventilators and so swarmed with patients that they were lining the halls. Sikh doctors cutting their hair and Muslim doctors cutting their beards to wear respirators. Nurses wearing trash bags for PPE.

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

I haven't paid attention to Fox News in a decade, but a patient had it on in their room yesterday. Really shocking how laser focused it is on micro-scale events to push their agenda. The vitriol is so shocking. It's pure hatred, switching topics rapidly to jumble it all together in people's heads.

It is though! McDonald's had tried to implement a pancake bun for a breakfast sandwich for a long time before they figured it out. The syrup would crystalize on the nozzles in the assembly line and clog them. It was a major technical challenge.

Hmm, can I get an assist from any trans folks? There's a local queer bookstore with a trans clothes closet, and we asked what they needed as donations. They said binders and tape. Are there brands out there that are preferred? Any to avoid? I want to make sure we're getting the right stuff. 🏳️‍⚧️💙

The Infinite and the Divine is one of the rare examples of genre fiction that crosses the line into just being generally great. It is two immortal wizards having a multi-millennia prank war over a magic rock. It is so, so good, even if you know nothing about Warhammer. Excited for a sequel.
