Just another boy who doesn’t know what to do with himself, not just sometimes, but always.

right-wing media is always hand-wringing about who is convincing young people to be anti-policing, like someone taught me a class on it or paid me or something as if watching police pour liquid all over trash cans full of every belonging my neighbors had wasn't enough to make me form an opinion

ProPublica spoke to dozens of people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.” We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words. ➡️ This is what they wrote:

Handwritten notecard. Prompt at the top asks: What object was most devastating for you to lose, and how have you been coping? Answer below: Dentures. Were thrown away and coping isn't somthing I can do. It’s made me feel ugly, unworthy, can’t go get a job with no teeth. So how can get off the streets until another pair can be made?

I always forget how bad late night transit options are in the Seattle area. I swear at midnight everything either shuts down or turns into milk run routes that takes ages. Hopefully I’ll get home eventually but might require a last leg uber, ah well. Still worth it.

Sagal makes the silliest argument. If you need poorly constructed aggressively mid YA books with a video adaptation to promote literacy allow me to introduce you to the 1000s of light novels translated and adapted just waiting for you to dive into. There’s even occasional pretty pictures!

Absolutely the hell not. It is so exhausting seeing these cis liberal folks with huge platforms go OH I LOVE TRANS RIGHTS SO HERE'S A WAY YOU CAN STILL CONSUME HARRY POTTER AND IT'S OKAY. It isn't. She isn't dead. She is actively harming lives, constantly. She is her work. They cannot be separated.

Peter Sagal @petersagal.bsky.soci... 3d I've said it before, and I've said it again: the Harry Potter books are terrific, especially when read aloud. They appeal to any child who is told they are special and great things are expected of them, and yet they have no idea how to live up to that.
I heard the author died. Not sure. Too
bad.

Peter Sagal @petersagal.bsky.soci.. 3d Also, there are complete sets of the books available at most garage sales, every library sale and a lot of antique/ junk shops. Failing that, I recommend your local public library.

also frustrating is, even if neither nana nor hachi is even slightly sapphic, they can still be the loves of each other's lives! they can still be partners! you don't need to be in love with or attracted to somebody to build a life with them. don't let heteronormativity and amatonormativity rob you

Flipping through an old Shojo Beat to get inspiration on something I'm working on 👀 & I landed on the scene in Nana where Hachi says the famous line: 'I swear if Nana were a guy... She'd be the love of my life." The scene happening around all of that makes me want to punch a pillow in frustration.
