folks who keep a list/tally of books read every year — do you count novellas, graphic novels, and children's books as one book, or half? (it feels unmathematical to count short things as a whole book, but I also love novellas/GNs novels/children's books A LOT and don't want to disrespect them!)

Queer dating app, but if you match it assigns you both to a dnd group so that you can get to know each other in a real life situation (protecting the realm from the hordes of darkness or smth)

Found this gate in York. It had a standard lock, plus a padlock and a chain holding it shut. It was very very securely closed. The only thing on the other side is a blank wall. The only conclusion I can make is that this is a magic portal to hell.

An obvious portal to hell.

when you put in an acquisition request at your local library and they are v. nice and buy the book! ... but then a dozen people put a hold on it before you can this happens to me constantly. oh well, at least I'm making some other readers happy? :P

@outpourgame.bsky.social I just played the demo for Outpour and I can already tell it's going to become one of my favourite puzzle games ever 💜 Impeccable level design! And the music + visuals are also wonderful — I played it while it was raining outside and the vibes were perfect

What happens when publishers begin avoiding LGBTQ+ stories before a book is ever challenged? This article explores how years of censorship efforts are creating a chilling effect across the publishing industry, making it harder for queer voices & stories to reach readers bookriot.com/queer-books-...

Queer Books and Authors are at a Breaking Point

Authors, agents, publishers: every part of the industry is seeing the strain of five years of escalating anti-LGBTQ censorship.

just had to send a letter by post, which in the year 2026 is an executive dysfunction nightmare because who keeps envelopes around anymore?! who has stamps?! and how many of those things am I supposed to use?!

there are two types of people: 1) people who are constantly assembling a grand theory of every single thing we encounter so that we can predict & understand how everything in the world works, 2) people who don't do that, I guess

very sad day when a favourite podcast puts in ad breaks. I don't mind that there are ads. podcasters need to make money! it's just that then I can't use the pod to fall asleep to anymore

one thing I don't like about the internet is how it mostly spotlights "talkative" people. irl, some of my best friends are the people who sit quietly in a group setting and never talk about themselves and only pipe up to say something supportive or funny

One reason I started this project was a hunch that despite a genuine & welcome turn to queer friendliness from the Nebulas & Hugos, there was still brilliant quality, accessible Queer SFF they were missing. This list of 10 has *zero* Hugo or Nebula noms between them. I might be on to something.

And on to year 3! Presenting the Queersar not an award for excellence in queer SFF 2022. Ten more brilliant titles! Nothing from the Tor mothership! Majority indie pubs! Gay, bi, lesbian, trans, and ace characters galore! ...and the single best novel I've read in the past decade. Dive on in.

why does this always happen: you spend all your time thinking about books and then the moment someone asks what you've been reading, you forget every single book you've ever known

does anyone else find that winter is so long & bleak that you just go numb? and it's only when spring comes that you wake up and realize, "oh wait, I've been REALLY depressed this whole time"
