Protostar IRAS 04302+2247 will one day emerge from its “cocoon” of gas and dust. 🦋 #NASAWebb and Hubble looked at this baby star, capturing aspects like the protoplanetary disk and two wing-shaped reflection nebulas. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, M. Villenave et. al.

Toward the top left is protostar IRAS 04302+2247, which looks like a butterfly against the black background of space. The nebula’s bright core is split by a narrow, vertical dark band, its “body.” Two rainbow lobes of light radiate outward from the dark band, shaped like butterfly wings. The right lobe is more diffuse and significantly larger than the left lobe, extending toward the bottom right. Numerous background galaxies and stars are visible across the field.

🚨🚨 BREAKING: Iran's negotiators have LEFT the venue in protest of Trump's threats, per Tasnim. Trump is single-handedly destroying the entire peace process.

Katalin Karikó is one of the most extraordinary scientific stories of this era. A girl from a modest Hungarian household helped develop technology that saved millions of lives worldwide. In 2023, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for discoveries that enabled effective mRNA vaccines.

SHE WAS DEMOTED, UNDERPAID, AND IGNORED FOR 40 YEARS. HER
UNIVERSITY TOLD HER MRNA RESEARCH WAS WORTHLESS. HER COLLEAGUES STOPPED TAKING HER SERIOUSLY. SHE EARNED $50,000 A YEAR FOR FOUR DECADES. THEN COVID ARRIVED - AND, SHE WON THE NOBEL PRIZE.
