The trade deadline is 6pm ET today. The Yankees have already dumped Camilo Doval on the Pirates and gotten Luis García Jr. from the Nationals. Their biggest remaining needs in rough order of importance: 1. RHB at C 2. RHB in the OF 3. RP who can miss bats (not rely on weak contact)

Passan: "The New York Yankees are acquiring infielder Luis García Jr. from the Washington Nationals, sources tell ESPN. Garcia, 26, leads the National League in slugging percentage and is hitting .283/.313/.560 with 23 home runs. He’s under club control through end of 2027."

Luis Garcia Jr. is still flying with the Nats to Philly this evening, but he spoke as if he expects to be officially told he's been traded at some point. "It's a mix of both sad and happy. This is a new chapter in my career. 50-50 right now."
