The final day of the RMetS Annual Weather and Climate Conference is underway. Attendees heard from Steve Ramsdale on the role of AI in meteorology and Kaja Milczewska on air, climate and health equity, before networking over posters and refreshments.

Two workshops at the WAC conference explored climate adaptation from different perspectives. One explored the value of interdisciplinary & local knowledge in building resilience. The other examined how climate data, & resources can help or hinder local adaptation decision-making.

Day two of the RMetS Annual Weather and Climate Conference is well underway! The morning featured parallel sessions on our changing climate, urban, and tropical and extratropical cyclones, before delegates continued discussions over lunch.

As the RMetS Early Career and Student Conference came to a close, the Annual Weather and Climate Conference got underway. Delegates shared research spanning forecasting to air quality, while conversations, new connections and collaborations continued throughout the day.

The last day of the Early Career and Student Conference started with an engaging session about Attribution and Drivers. The talks highlighted how attribution science is deepening our understanding of our changing climate.

The day finished with the second poster session and drinks reception, giving the students and researchers another opportunity to showcase their work and connect with others across the weather and climate community.

This afternoon's Machine Learning session explored improving cloud parameterisations, forecasting stratospheric conditions and reducing uncertainty in ensemble data assimilation. It was fascinating to see how machine learning is advancing weather prediction.

Ever thought a game of catch could teach you about research communication? That was how Matt Williamson opened his Storytelling for Research Workshop yesterday: if no one catches the ball, there’s no conversation. His engaging talk showed why stories are such a powerful way to start conversations.

Day 2 of the RMetS Early Career and Student Conference 2026 is in progress! This morning's speakers explored water extremes around the world, sparking great discussions. Looking forward to another afternoon of sessions and poster presentations.
