what a bizarre experience - went out to a suitable spot with the colander and found another half dozen people doing the same. Lots of chat and laughs and, of course, the eclipse. Learnt two things as well: how to spell colander, and that ours was better than anyone else's.

visiting Dorset and just saw nine hares running around a field. That’s three times as many hares as I’d seen in my entire life up to that point. What wonderful animals they are.
terribly sad that #hockney has died but astounded to read how many millions of pounds people paid for his work. The amount of dosh kicking around at the top end, compared to the dearth of it lower down, is shocking.
BBC has since changed this but really it should have from the start read ‘Convicted stalker grabbed woman’s hair etc…’ and it makes one wonder if there’s a senior editor checking stuff before it goes out.The real story is an utterly different one compared to that suggested by the initial headline.

aren’t we falling into the same journalistic trap with JD Vance that we did with Trump? We make headlines out of anything he says because he’s powerful, even when what he says is so factually flawed that it doesn’t deserve our consideration. These guys know that, and we’re being played.
