It would be the damnedest thing if Trump's death was 1) stupid, 2) destructive, 3) preventable, and 4) a tragedy for bystanders. But it would fit with just about everything else in his second term. The icing on the cake would be if someone made a windfall betting on it.

Some great/good books here, a few bad ones, and a few that I would disqualify on genre grounds (sorry, Donna Tartt, Mick Herron, and John Le Carre). A few years ago an unleashed dog took a BB-sized chunk out of my right calf while it was going for the smaller dog I was walking (I lifted my dog out of the way in time), and I wish I had the knowledge in this thread at the time. (It turned out OK; I got rabies shots to be on the safe side.)

Harvey & Joyce's adopted daughter Danielle is trying to raise funds to deal with Pekar's raw archive; basically four storage lockers full of notes, outlines, ideas, etc. Note this is not Pekar's comics per se. Those rights have been tied up in court for years. Long, ugly story. Worth backing.

As with foreign policy, this will not be forgotten by foreign students, even if our next president reverses all this, because even just a bachelor’s degree is 4 years long & wont be done til a new president’s in office. Who’s ever going to be able to trust that it’s a safe & stable place to study?

They’re trying to make sure students like my husband—who got his bachelors and PhD here and then went on to be a prof at MIT before moving to industry (& his bro who did same path, diff school)—will either never choose the US in the first place or will take their years of training & skill and leave.
