This is a must include imho.
Moda term sheet. Today, I filed Morillo 1, an amendment that will require a comprehensive public analysis of every proposed funding source, its tradeoffs, and its public benefit before any final Council vote on the Moda Center agreement. www.portland.gov/sites/defaul...
Proud of so many Portlanders for standing up against a billionaire bailout
Listening to testimony about Moda Center and heard that Portland has punched above its weight in the world of sports and built an unexpected empire. And that’s EXACTLY the attitude councilors need to bring to this negotiation now. WE ARE PORTLAND and no one gets to push us around. Keep punching!
Dan Ryan just entered the chamber with a giant foam finger. I have a finger for him too.
Listen to my conversation with Annie Naranjo Rivera - State Director of @workingfamilies.org of Oregon - hear why they are on a roll here in Oregon and across the country!!

This is called ethnic cleansing. Trump & Stephen Miller have telegraphed this as the goal repeatedly. The only legal immigration under Trump has been for white South Africans. Let's start using the right terms for these policies.
Judge Wise finds that ICE coerced a 20-year-old Tongan man — admitted legally to the country three years ago — to sign a document accepting deportation, despite no criminal record or immigration proceedings against him. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Privilege is sitting in my air conditioned house while the air quality is unhealthy at the same time minimum wage farm workers pick the produce I eat in the exact same conditions.
"Rena" sent this from Moses Lake WA where she is weeding carrots for a non-union company. She shared: The air is bad. See my cell phone. The AQI is 166, which is unhealthy. We start at 4am. We'll work 7-8 hrs & earn minimum wage. #WeFeedYou

Batteries and vaccines come immediately to mind. Television programs. The broad availability of great pizza.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
“Just one more lane, bro!” What a masterclass in wasting taxpayer money. According to program administrators, the cost estimate increase is due largely to having to delay/rearrange work because they can’t pay for it. Who knew we didn’t have the money? Literally fucking everyone.

The project’s funding gap raises questions about whether it will proceed as planned.

How can there be a 'Firenado', yet there has never been a disaster movie about it?
CAUGHT ON CAMERA: ‘Firenado’ seen during Oregon’s historic wildfire activity
Oregon state leadership has failed us and put Portland city council and Multnomah County commissioners in a very difficult position regarding the Moda Center. I hope that the media will keep that point front and center over the next few weeks.
Trail Blazers "I don't think our public answers will be well-received." kind of says it all right there
People who don't live in Portland are very eager to hire other people who don't live in Portland to do violence to people who do live in Portland.
A ballot initiative that sought to direct 25 percent of Portland’s Clean Energy Fund toward hiring additional police officers failed to gather enough valid signatures to qualify for the November ballot.
Although i'm glad the Safer Portland ballot initiative failed to qualify--i'm also slightly sad we didn't get to overwhelmingly vote it down.
This is *without* considering which of the votes were illegally obtained. They spent $1MM+, lied about what their petition did, and still couldn’t make it over the line.
Turns out 29,000 or so of the signatures collected were duplicates (or triplicates, or quadruplicates in at least one case!), from out-of-Portland voters, from people not registered to vote, or otherwise invalid. www.portland.gov/auditor/news...

For Portland police officers, staff shortages mean lots of overtime pay that fattens their average yearly earnings and guarantees a higher retirement payout. And some officers collect retirement and sign back on for a salary too. i have no idea how that's even possible but i know it to be true.
Tomorrow evening.
Join me, sports economists @jcbradbury.com & @victor-matheson.bsky.social with co-host @councilormorillo.bsky.social on the economics of publicly funded stadiums. The term sheet is coming with limited information provided to us on the Moda Center renovations. Let’s discuss. zoom.us/webinar/regi...
There is another way to live that is not at war with the planet. 😷
Portland Police have more or less been on a wildcat work slowdown/strike since 2020 and I assume that’ll get a tad worse now. Idk shit about civ-mil relations as a practice area or academic discipline, but if I was the mayor I’d be staffing up on people who do.
Looks like Portland Police aren't going to be able to raid PCEF to hire more cops when they can't even hire for the positions they already have open.....sorry about your luck!
Cops lie and believe they are above the rule of law.
Watch what people do, not what they say. Ellison is a liar.
60 Minutes Ended Story About Epstein’s Shady Bank Transactions
Senator Ron Wyden sat for an interview with correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi about Jeffrey Epstein’s bank transactions. Alfonsi was fired for other reasons shortly after, and the story never aired.
