Vandaag alweer 5 jaar in dienst van Nevi. Leuke collega’s leren kennen, aan mooie projecten gewerkt. En de blik naar voren? Die is zeker nog niet uitgespeeld, op naar de volgende mooie jaren. In de tussentijd verwend met lekker gebak en een mooi boeket.

We are building Eurosky on the principle that it is possible to build better social tech that also prioritize people’s interests over corporate greed. Since the beginning of the year we’ve taken big steps towards our mission of building independent infrastructure and experience for social media in Europe. In April we launched a fundraiser to help accelerate our roadmap, in particular: - Building a European microblogging app backend, to support European apps - Growing our PDS capacity - Supporting up to 100k users Since then, we have raised nearly €15,000 Euros that have directly contributed to: - Upgrading our PDS servers, which are now used by more than 22,000 people, up from around 10,000 when we launched the fundraiser - with plenty of room to grow. - Deploying a high availability Eurosky relay in Europe serving Atmosphere apps, so apps can access Atmosphere data easily from a European source. - Deploying a PLC mirror in Europe serving Atmosphere apps, to ensure that people’s identities also have a European server. - Kicked off building the microblogging backend (“app view”) with a deployment planned for the end of July. - Developed and launched mu, our microblogging application with wildly cool features, hitting 100k active users in its first month, to rave reviews. Whilst all of this costs more than the 15k we raised, it would not have been possible without it.

The only down part of working with a @mu.social web-app is that you don’t receive notifications. I’m dependent on Bluesky to see if something is new. But nevertheless, ”we” (😆 don’t thinks about W social) are just left. Just need to wait for the official app

Just like @robin.berjon.com said, I think this is a clear case for the Competition department. Why endorse a private - based on a lot of bugs - company in stead of the open source strategy. Who is advising those people? @ec.europa.eu @stasdigi.bsky.social

DigiD en MijnOverheid mogen in de toekomst alleen door Europese bedrijven worden gehost. Het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken sluit daarmee Amerikaanse techbedrijven uit van de digitale kern van de overheid. De koerswijziging volgt op de ophef rond de voorgenomen overname van Solvinity.

Ministerie: alleen Europese bedrijven mogen straks DigiD beheren

In de aanbesteding van de hosting van DigiD mogen alleen Europese bedrijven meedingen. Dat heeft het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken deze week besloten, bevestigen bronnen rond de besluitvorming. De nieuwe strategie is een reactie op de voorgenomen verkoop van DigiD-beheerder Solvinity aan het Amerikaanse Kyndryl.
