It seems a strange coincidence that the war diaries in respect of August and September 1917 are missing for both the 91st and 92nd Royal Field Artillery Brigades. I guess some tw*t has stolen them. The 20th Division CRE diaries give a little info however.
Has anybody ever come across a case of, or have any comments about, the WW1 possibility of a man enlisting in the ranks of the SPECIAL RESERVE of the British Army AFTER Britain had declared war on Germany🤔
How the hell do they expect Government Departments to run smoothly when their Secretaries of State changes so often - and I'm not just talking about the current reshuffling.
I note Ed Miliband has been advising the new Prime Minister for months. Why wasn't he been concentrating on the job he was appointed to do?
The sight of those Labour MP's who stabbed the PM in the back clapping him in the Commons makes me sick. It sums up their character.
It is 6pm and every news programme is leading with the football. This is really beginning to p*ss me off...
The BBC were paying Scott Mills £745,000 per annum. How ridiculous..
@itvcentral.bsky.social is your 6pm news a programme about football or local news?
Reviewing the safety of MP's? Perhaps a good start would be them stopping hurling insults to each other across the floor of the house. Designed to rattle peoples cages, and then MP's express surprise at the violence that breaks out - both from the left and right. They need to get a grip.
@mightygwyn.bsky.social Private Owen Roberts of the 15th Royal Welsh Fusiliers was KiA on the 25th July 1917. His inscription reads "O Fryniau Caersalem Ceir Gweled Holl Daith Yr Anialwch I Gyd". Having looked it up I find it quite moving - and I am not of a religious bent.
Why do we allow Russian tennis players to play in this country. And why do we allow ANY Russian athletes to compete here?
The commentators on the Serena Williams match are really getting on my nerves. So sycophantic

A powerful resignation letter from John Healey. And he is absolutely correct in his analysis. Surely the defence of ones country is the number one priority of any Government.
@lmbd1418.bsky.social Did you just see Country file on BBC2 with the Suffolk Punch and her foal?
An MP gives up his seat to allow another member of the same party to stand in his stead. A slap in the face for those who voted for him. And he should pay for the expense caused as a result. I hope Burnham loses.
Appointing 2 has beens. That will sort the problem then. Starmer is not reading the room
The time it is taking to count the election votes is just ridiculous. Surely in this day and age there must be a more efficient and secure means of voting. The current method us archaic
Did BBC TV mention this morning that it was St George's Day? Not when I was watching.....
@davidunderdown.bsky.social Is the NA site still down for maintenance? I am still getting that message
Aagh... The National Archives WO/95 War Diaries series on the web are shut for maintenance. Bang goes my research plans for the next couple of days. #WWI
Oh, FFS Starmer is still using the phrase "Working People"...
The standard of some journalism. When a reporter says that the person who attacked Huntley has been "charged with allegedly murdering him". I think he has actually been charged with murder. Reporter frightened to death of saying that.
Question to contestant on game show "in which war was the battle of Passchendaele fought". Answer "War of the Worlds"...
