Got three Zelle payments from strangers this morning totaling just over $3k. Then a few hours later get an email from someone saying that their husband accidentally gave people my email address and asking me to send the money back. This is totally a scam, right?

Yes, the problem is that people aren't wearing enough tech-themed clothing, not that they have valid complaints about the impact of tech on their lives.

The backlash against A.I. spans age, race, class and political party. Will merch actually change the narrative? Niv Dror, founder of the venture firm Shrug Capital, said he believed it could humanize the industry. He suggested tech-themed stores that carry all the cool new apparel and tchotchkes, as well as books by tech C.E.O.s and venture capitalists. "Why isn't there a Nordstrom for tech?" Mr. Dror asked. Or even a whole mall? "Tech will be better understood when people actually see it in culture," he said.

I appreciate how the New York Times made sure to explain how this username came from the dragon language in Skyrim.

Mr. Klayme's username was fus_ro_dah, while the messages came from an account with the username fus_ro_dah, which had two underscores in it between fus and ro, according to the ruling. Both names come from the dragon language in the role-playing console game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and roughly translate to force, balance and push.

If I was a guy in Ithaca at the end of the Odyssey, I would also rejoice at the return of Odysseus, but I don't think I would be too quick to volunteer to go on his next ocean voyage to his retirement or whatever

That there will be conspiracy theories is now just baked into the aftermath of the death of any prominent person. I think I've seen at least one half-baked theory surface after the death of every single celebrity, influencer, or politician in the past year.

People spreading completely unfounded rumours about the Russians poisoning/assassinating Sen Graham in Ukraine are doing the Ukrainians a big disservice, as it means that the Ukrainians could not protect a US Senator on an official trip.

Many voters don't have especially sophisticated views on policy, so they look at how strongly a politician fights for their positions as a proxy for how good those ideas are.

The Dem establishment and Dem centrists can wring their hands and complain about the results in Colorado. Or they can learn a lesson: Their repudiation was in large part about their perceived unwillingness to stand up firmly and unhesitatingly to Trump. So start doing so!

Every table at this restaurant we're at in Montreal has a small drawer filled with notes from previous patrons -- and they'll give you pen and paper to leave your own note. It's kind of great.

Is anybody doing any good writing aimed at people born in this century, designed to explain what norms were like (or what we tried to have them be like) before the recent ascendancy of the authoritarians? I keep having to explain this, and would like to be able to point to clear descriptions.
