It's a global weather system developing over the course of months that will affect the global food supplies, how many fucking cans of beans are supposed to mitigate that, you absolute dickheads?
Minister tells Brits to stock up on days of supplies after ‘supersize’ El Niño warning
I need to get out of the UK. Apart from the normalisation of transphobia and the hatred of all minorities from disabled folks to refugees, the 'this weather's great, stop banging on about climate change' as thousands of folks die is too reminiscent of the COVID eugenics for me.
Said this many times, but anyone who has any experience of 'defence' knows money is wasted profusely. The one area where the critique of waste is absolutely valid and the one area the right doesn't go after. Looked at in capitalist terms, rise of BAE to an all-spectrum near monopolist is part of it
If you’re loving all this utterly useless shit that the government has bought, from the AI burger restaurants and AI police training to the non-functional carbon capture facility that doesn’t do anything, just wait until you see how awesome our zillion pounds in snazzy new armaments are.
Just had a conversation with someone who’s had an extremely difficult last few years dealing with a truly appalling employer. A significant settlement, and they walk away not only having won, but on their own terms with their head held high. Thoroughly deserved. Absolutely delighted for them.

England *cannot keep its rivers clean of human shit* because the government sold off water treatment - a prerequisite for life - as part of a deliberate project of putting as much capacity as possible into private hands and thus outside democratic control. But sure, it’s a big laugh and a joke.
Lowe did not receive 'the best care'. Brooks now said he passed out repeatedly due to loss of BP as they tried to make him walk off with a ruptured hamstringm This first half, the awful officiating, the terrible medical care, has been an indictment of the cavalier attitude taken to safety in RL.
Jon Wells should never mention Rob Burrow or 'player safety' again after today - described the hit on Dagnall's head as a 'cracking hit' (on report) Also describes Lowe as receiving 'the best care' - no stretcher was immediately available and his condition 'deteriorated' after being made to walk.

I played rugby, worked in rugby league, have MS, done MND fundraising challenges. The two-faced attitudes to bad shots really upsets me. Farrimond should he off. These shots need to be out of the game. Folks talk about the memory of Rob Burrow & then in next breath say shots should go unpunished.

Love this new world where we’re supposed to conserve water at home for data centres and pavement space (which is awful in the UK) for robot delivery devices so Jeff Bezos can buy a bigger yacht
Oh do fuck off
Funny things you forget. Aways associate 40k with the early 90s when I started playing in last couple of years of Rogue Trader. But in Mum's house I found about 15 Horus Heresy novels which I'd read, last one out in 2011. Getting back into it all now and hard to believe 40k is itself 40 next year.
An early shout out for BLAST! (45). Applications for performance slots open next week! Live @theexcelsior.bsky.social
John is not known for going over the falls on stuff, he takes his professionalism and crediblity too seriously. But sometimes things are what they look like, and it seems that's what John thinks. Devastated here.
In a shocking move, Jaylen Brown has been traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first round picks, and two second round picks. It's a very confusing, underwhelming return for an all NBA player. Here's my initial reaction.
I mostly retrogame these days despite having GamePass. I play Amstrad CPC games on an old tablet a fair bit. I have some games on the Xbox on digital download, but I am increasingly uninterested in new games due to shit like this. Not going near GTA VI due to the union-busting.

Doesn't sit well that free tickets were dished out last night for today's Test and loads haven't shown up. There are folk who'd have gone, even with the situation as is. Can't help but feel allowing four free per person was a mistake.
Just looked up how much my 1st edition (Rogue Trader) and 2nd edition 40k stuff is worth. Wow. The unopened blister pack Leman Russ with wolves which I got probably for under a fiver is going for over a ton. The problem is I'm probably not selling any of it 🤣
Just one for Blues - I post more regularly at punkacademic.bsky.social, appreciate a follow there. Cheers.

Thing is, from a European perspective, of course they'd want the players. It's American corporate hubris to think it's an 'outrageous' demand - it's just capitalism. If the European team could pay, of course they'd want them. Equally, it's understandably a non-starter for the NBA. /1
Imagine your favorite NBA player gone from the U.S. for a season, playing on loan in Europe. THAT is among the asks of the giant soccer clubs working with Adam Silver on NBA Europe — proper transfer windows www.nytimes.com/athletic/725...
The sample size is 81, so this is not a story. For example, less than 5 guys who don't like Banchero could be bothered to vote to say so. If Sengun had to deal with 12% of 400+ guys thinking he was overrated, that might be more of a thing but even then it wouldn't be much more. /1
The most overrated section of our annual player poll has emerged as the most controversial. Thoughts on Alperen Şengün coming in at No. 1?
Just deleted my WSAG account. In fairness I am as much to blame as anyone else, I get too invested in silly arguments and I don't come off well. People who I meet from there are surprised I'm actually quite cheerful 🤣 Met some really nice people on there though who are now good mates.
Has anyone tried storing an electric wheelchair at the ground? They said they'd be able to offer storage at the start of the season but I've not tried it. I think a chair might he the difference between me getting there or not tomorrow.
Just to say for folks who aren't aware of the issues, they were anticipated in advance, so can't be dismissed as teething problems really, and even if they could it's now nearly the end of the first season and there are no signs of improvement.
They were told two years in advance it was going to be an issue - we've been letting them know for ages - and we have a worse experience now than before. That's not acceptable. It's not an unforseen teething problem. If able bodied people had the same problems it wouldn't be thought of that way
It's good they're putting a quiet hour in the Club shop But the Club has an extremely long way to go to get back to the baseline or accessibility that was available at Goodison on matchdays and we need to see progress now on transport and access as folks are making decisions on whether to renew.
A good thing in itself and glad they're doing it, but it costs them absolutely nothing and is part of a media strategy to distract from the negative coverage of disabled access/transport links on matchdays. Lots of us EDSA types are giving up our STs and instead all we get are press releases.
A vote for Labour is a vote for Farage. Labour voters need to stop with their endless purity tests and fall in line with the Greens to stop fascism, or they'll forever be remembered as fascist enablers
Update: Greens ahead of Labour again and in 2nd on 21% in new YouGov poll: RefUK 23% (-1) GRN 21% (+4) LAB 16%(-2) CON 16%(-2) LDEM 14%(nc)
Remember, amongst the 'answers' Jones has come up with to improving people's lives is that removing £4,500 a year in welfare for disabled people was like him cutting his kid's pocket money And they still wonder why they are hated
Govt minister Darren Jones is asked about a poll today that puts the Greens in second place above Labour (with Reform out in front) Jones says the Greens are populists with no answers.
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now
Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him. White. Hot. Rage.
