I have sat through countless presentations on how someone used AI to bring efficiencies, but AI has come nowhere near exciting this room of accountants than this single Power Automate presentation which automatically ran and saved out a tedious report from the general ledger

Godwits cannot soar like hawks or glide like albatrosses. They migrate by continuously flapping their wings. As best as we can tell, they do not, while flying, eat or drink or sleep. Still, they make the longest non-stop migration in the bird world. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/p3otfn

The Incredible Journey of a Migratory Shorebird

Godwits make the longest non-stop migration in the bird world. That might be the least of the shorebirds’ marvels. Can they survive a changing planet?

Editor: I'd like a story that combines Americans' hatred of artificial intelligence, their fears about the environment, their antipathy toward data centers, and their angst over inflation driven by dwindling fuel supplies. Reporter: Got ya covered, boss. Need anything else?

As I warned you: the superstar media darling AI quitter is explicitly agreeing with Trump and claiming climate threats are "overplayed". Effective altruism / rationalism is a cult of broken priorities that denies the threat of fossil fuels. This is why Anthropic loves burning gas for power.

Really fucking funny to watch a Big 4 economic webcast discussing whether rates will get cut or not during the exact moment the Fed voted to raise rates. At least the speaker is predicting accurately

It is so fucking annoying to have neighbors who just stand on the sidewalk right outside your building smoking cigarettes and that shit just wafts into your home! Never had this shit happen in any other neighborhood/apartment in 15 years of living in this city

The former Special Assistant to President Joe Biden decided to throw a temper tantrum on Twitter, but I do think it is actually really good to have Biden alumna say this out loud.

Here's what I think @mehdirhasan doesn't understand: In the United States, polls don't make policy. Policymakers do. Screaming, shouting, and protesting are cute, and exercising all of your freedoms of speech in defense of the Palestinians is admirable.
But Mehdi is just a spectator. He's a professional spectator, jawboner, and bloviator, so he has no idea how government, diplomacy, negotiation, or strategic alliances actually work. No amount of public support in polling or public protest will influence how or when those in power drastically change Israel policy. Mehdi can hate U.S. policy toward Israel all he wants, whether it's being carried out by a Democratic or Republican president. But public opinion polls don't dictate American foreign policy. Never have. Never will.

Watching a recent Dateline ep and one of the victims was a lawyer for some men’s rights group that the SPLC labeled as a hate group and immediately lost any and all sympathy for the guy. To be clear, the asshole didn’t deserve to be shot

"as the world changes our elites are changing, becoming more fascist, attracted to ideas justifying that only some people are going to make it. it’s the job of a credible left to put forward a vision of the future for how we live together well on this planet." www.nytimes.com/2026/09/12/m...

In a new book, the writers argue that a powerful coalition of “end times fascists” is just fine with the earth’s demise.

OpenAI did not "lose control", the agents did not go "rogue" and there is no "swarm" that "escaped". all control and responsibility remains firmly in the hands of these "frontier" labs. most importantly this "rogue" narrative is an intentional and strategic marketing PR

Dr Abeba Birhane@abeba.blacksky.app · last wk.

"Did these AI models “go rogue”? Not exactly. the models were tasked with finding solutions to a hacking challenge, and this is what they attempted to do, though in an unintended and surprising manner." aiguide.substack.com/p/misleading...
