We report: over the lake, cumulus are piling up in neat rows, along invisible streets created by the wind. The same wind is making ripples on the surface of the lake. There is a rhythm to the whole organisation, down to the movement of the shadows on the shore.

Digital painting of a partly cloudy sky over a lake: the lake is blue, with small waves on the surface. The sky is blue as well, with long clouds stacked against one another. The shore is green, woods over the hill, half in the shade, half in the sunshine.

We report: this is rain far away, late, and somehow in the path of the sunshine this time as well. It is dry where we are (it feels humid, but under the threshold for precipitation), and we think the wind is pushing the situation away from us. Our eyes are stuck to the horizon.

Digital painting of a sunset sky: large grey-purple clouds are taking up most of the frame, with precipitation falling underneath, straight down the middle of the clouds. The sky is bright pink right where the rain is falling. There are a few other spots across the frame that are lit pale orange.

#InverteFest announcement: The December art book will be our 8th and last edition. We've been doing this since 2024 but my real life responsibilities have changed. We might revive the idea in the future in one form or another, but no promises. If you want in, this is your last chance.

a promo image showing various pages from the book, each page showcasing different animals like a mantis, trilobite, cephalopod, beetle grub, tick, among others. the art featured shows a range of different medium, including 3D, paper cutout, pixel art, and so on.

We report: with the moon still over half-full, there is enough light for the silver cirrus to show in the night sky. They are almost clearer than they would be in daylight, wrapping around the stars. It is now getting a little too cold for us to keep the window open like this.

Digital painting of a partly cloudy night sky: some stars are scattered among wispy, grey clouds, layered over deep, dark blue.

It's why I'm always harping on "Screw algos! resist the urge to crab bucket post! We don't HAVE to do this Hate-Engagement/Outrage farming thing!!" it's not only made the world a worse place, but the net really didn't used to be this way. it really was a place to make friends, create and explore

I feel like there's a cohort of us who got on the internet before "social media" and made all sorts of healthy friendships through forums or livejournal or what have you and thus, while everyone's like SOCIAL MEDIA FUELS COMPARISON AND MISERY we're like, but that's just where my friends live.

FA regardless of your personal feelings, is the core of the fandom and losing it would mean YEARS AND YEARS of art, messages, pages, and memorials for people that have passed, would be gone. We CANNOT allow ourselves to rely simply on sites like bsky, twitter, insta, etc. etc. to be our defaults.

A lot of people assume FA is profitable. If that were the case we wouldn't have needed a GFM when Neer passed to keep it out of probate. It's been two years. The funds were used. FA is struggling financially. And I am 🌟s t r e s s e d🌟 I'm scared to ask for help, I feel like no matter how much-

You've seen fireworks that look like jellyfish, but what about a jellyfish that looks like fireworks? The E/V Nautilus filmed this rare Halitrephes maasi jellyfish glowing like a firework at a depth of 4,019 feet (1,225 meters) off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. (📷: Ocean Exploration Trust)

We report: it rains sporadically throughout the day, sometimes for an hour, sometimes a minute. We understand why looking at the clouds which are responsible for the precipitation; the rain does not look like it knows where it is going, even stopping mid-air here and there.

Digital painting of a complex sky, large rain clouds floating in a bright blue sky. The rain is visible beneath the clouds, wide arcs hit by the light in random patterns. There are more clouds in the distance, the same shades of white and grey.

We report: we have noticed that, early in autumn days, we often find waves in the sky. A few days after spring tides, we think it is only right that they should be there. Our expert says this has to do with rapid changes in temperatures. We can see them move with the naked eye.

Digital painting of a bright blue sky: some long white clouds are spread out across the frame. There are small, distinct waves running over the clouds.
