This is more common than you’d sadly think. In the anime voice acting sphere, there is a series of animated films made by an actual cult known as Happy Science. A lot of household name actors have voiced in these; I doubt many of them knew that when they recorded. Sometimes it’s just a paycheck.

I can't remember the precise details, but the earliest nightmare I can recall when I was 5 or 6 years old involved Ganon from Ocarina of Time. To my child self, that dark figure against the lightning looked positively demonic.

I’d argue Picard from TNG is a really strong example in that he isn’t infallible but is unrelentingly concerned with the moral costs of decisions and the power placed in his hands
