update:filed a petition to the UN Human Rights Committee and received interim measures telling Canada to defer removal. CBSA has agreed to do so. Ridiculous that this had to go all the way to the UNHRC for any govt actor to respond - but removal is cancelled, now there's time to try to retain status

Our client has lived here for almost 30 yrs as a PR. He is waiting on a hearing at the FCA about the constitutionality of the legislation that led to the loss of his permanent residence status. We are now trying to stop his removal. Pls sign the petition & write to the minster: shorturl.at/mt00j

UC Berkeley Law creates new AI policy that bans AI for "conceptualizing, outlining, drafting, revising, translating, or editing any work submitted for credit" or exams because "thinking remains the sine qua non of good lawyering (and of a quality legal education)." That's what I'm talking about.

Rule:
The use of AI is prohibited for aid in conceptualizing, outlining, drafting, revising,
translating, or editing any work submitted for credit. AI use is prohibited for any use for
any purpose in any exam situation. Students may not upload course
materials—including assignments, readings, slides, class recordings, or other class
content—into generative AI systems. AI can be used for research on papers ONLY for the
limited purpose of identifying sources, such as cases, statutes, or secondary sources.
Students are responsible for the accuracy of their research and all other aspects of their
submitted work. Citations to sources that do not exist will raise a presumption of
prohibited AI use

A great run of reading recently: My Phantoms by Gwendoline Riley (obsessed), Gilead (a reread, always great), American Pastoral (my first Philip Roth! loved it, want to do more), and now reading Sad Tiger by Neige Sinno

on a quest to reignite some fluency in French - I have high comprehension/reading, but speaking and proper grammar have disappeared - I can't let all my years of french school go to waste!

My family in Iran has had very sporadic internet access the past month, so communication has been in spurts. They always say they're fine - one time even did a video call on apartment roof to show the home shaking and bombs in the background - while we sit here and watch and tell them to go inside.

American and Israeli missiles hit Sharif University in Tehran tonight. Often called #Iran’s MIT, the institution has been home to some of the country’s best and brightest minds in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics since 1966. 1/2
