Is Riot seriously expecting me to pay money for a game you just announced you’re kicking to the curb?! β€œBundling cosmetic items.” Get fucked. I really liked 2xko, this is just sad. The game didn’t instantly make all of the money so now it’s going the way of Rumbleverse and MultiVersus

2XKO Active Development Will End in December 2026 www.riotgames.com/en/news/2xko... -Servers will remain on beyond 2026, and 2XKO will be playable on all platforms -'We're unlocking all champs. We’re also bundling most cosmetic items, and refunding all money spent in 2XKO on or before August 20'

If a high-effort live service fighting game comes out, I don't feel any motivation to put much time into it, because I figure it won't last a year before the end of service announcement. Like, I'm not that surprised that 2XKO lasted about as long as Multiversus and Rumbleverse did.

I think after Rumbleverse, MultiVersus, and now 2XKO, I think it's settled that regardless of your game's quality, the FGC is not the kind of audience that can sustain a live service at the scale the big studios would want. Fighting games are such a fascinating niche.
